if anyone is wondering who escaped from Alcatraz it was frank morris and Clarence and john angling Allen west was going to escape but didn't plan ahead and could not dig out oif his cell in time. also 2 others escaped but were found only a few miles away. And one other escapee worked in the incinerator by the laundrette and the navy usually sent uniforms to Alcatraz to be mass washed he actually got a uniform and walk of the island but was captured later

I just got back from San Fran about a week ago and I loved Alcatraz. Completely breath taking on the part of the tour where you go to the D-Block and see the 6-inch thick doors and it's pitch black. This is a must-see if you're going to San Francisco. The only thing they DON'T have is all the actual things that they had during the running of this Penetentary. 5/5 Good job :)

yeah they escaped, but they indeed have drowned i guess, since no one ever heard something of them after the escape. the leader of the group was very very clever and glued some jackets to eachother to create a raft.

I think Alcatraz was a smart idea. They thought it was unescapable because if you do try, either the guards, the icey water, or the sharks will get you. But if they put it on an island further out, and not so close to San Fransico, theres NO chance of them escaping. Also, they could put up an electric fence, more guards and security cameras in each room, it would work. But, at least Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly are dead and gone and not in some other low security prison.

I highly believe that they survived the water on the day of their escape. Their escape plan was extremely well done. And they must have known about the cold water in the bay. They were extremely prepared.

I`ve been there several times and met one of the former inmates who wrote a book and was selling and signing it for the visitors. I mentioned the riot that took place there and he said, "I was right in the middle of it, whoooo!!

I went there 2 years ago. It was amazing and scary at the same time. You could actually see where the gas would come out in the cafeteria if the inmates got to roudy. We wanted to go see where the nurse room was and lok inside, but we didnt want to get in trouble since it was roped off. That is where a real mystery is. Great vid
