i am a sucker for special effects in movies and i as much as i do like 4,5,6 i would still like to see it remade :) you guys can hate on me all you want but i still think people will see the movies if they did make them.

@2knackers It's not that if they remade them fans would or wouldn't go see them, it's more that I don't think even George would even considering remaking them. I mean, sure he's made changes, but I couldn't see him remaking them just to make better fight scenes, space battles and special effects as you mentioned previously.

@2knackers they should remake 1,2, and 3 instead. New plot, where maybe Queen amidala takes over the galaxy and Anakin is torn between his love for her and his duty to the Jedi. She could be like a Julius Caesar figure (ie motivated by noble ideas, but definitely tyrannical) who the Jedi try to remove from power. Or there could be a love triangle between Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme that causes him to go the the dark side. Or something.

@2knackers you are treading on dangerous ground my friend. the original unaltered trilogy are all time classic movies. the prequels are a pale facsimile. cgi effects are no comparison for good story telling and characters. luke skywalker's story and character development is more interesting than anikan skywalker. mark hamill was luke skywalker. hayden christensen was manikin skywalker.

@2knackers The day I live to see Star Wars remade is the day I commit suicide. I mean the "Special Editions" were bad enough. I honestly think Lucas should've left well enough alone after he meddled with his films the first time in 1997. Jabba was cool and it was nice to see Mos Eisley expanded, but he probably should've stopped there. On the other hand the expanded Cloud City in Empire was cool too.

And by the time the 2004 DVD came out, I enjoyed the newly filmed Emperor scene with Ian McDiarmid instead of the chimpanzee lady. Maybe just maybe then after that he should've stopped there. But then he had to re-record Boba Fett's four iconic lines and replace Jason Wingreen's chilling performance with Temuera Morrison's boring delivery. And then he had to put crybaby Hayden at the end of Jedi replacing Sebastian Shaw's Anakin with the new Anakin which made no sense at all.

And then for some reason Lucas felt the need to give the Ewoks eyelids and its not like we didn't notice until now its just that we didn't care. And then he committed the ultimate atrocity and made Vader into a pussy at the end of Jedi and made him scream "NO!" as he threw Palpatine over the railing in the Throne Room on the Death Star...Sigh...

@abome33 456 was the original trilogy, but people were so amazed and so interested in the story, they wanted to see how darth vader was created and the whole anakin story. so 123 were made and the original 123 was made into 456 :)

There may not have been a whole lot of great actors in the Star Wars prequels, but Ewan McGregor was definitely one of the exceptions I think. He might've been kinda flat in Episode I, but I think he became more confident and creative in Episodes II and III, kinda like how Mark Hamill became better and better with each of the original three films.

They might have matched the look of the two actors up, but the new Obi-Wan lacks the most important aspect of the character, his wisdom, though that isn't Ewan's fault that is poor writing. The only time in the movies I thought Ewan's acting was bad, was when he finds out Anakin has become Vader in ep III, he's meant to be distraught and he looks as though it really doesn't bother him at all.
