There is no such thing as a primary instrument, they're all unique. I mean, an impostered sound can never be the same as the real deal. Don't get me wrong, I have every respect for this solo and all piano players, but when someone sets themselves higher than another, it irritates me.
@theatomizer well you do have a point. every instrument IS unique in its own very way. However if you want to take music very seriously (or a step feather) learning the piano will defiantly give you the edge you'll need (you don't have to).
Every song I've remixed, written and composed was all done with a yamaha & pc. about 90% of computer programs out there uses a keyboard midi format. Hens answers my saying of "being the primary instrument"

@DimecheWorld But that's the thing, all you are doing is mimicking. You can modify any electrical pulse to make it sound like anything once you put it through a speaker. And you can't mimic the feel of the real instrument. You can't get the ring of the strings and the tone from the fingers of a guitar from a keyboard. They use samples from a real guitar, and those samples don't change, unlike a real guitar. Same goes for any instrument. Like I said, they are all unique, including piano/keyboard.

At 1:03 and 2:09 you hear this significant midi-guitar-sound. The rest is actually pretty good. So, if you know it's not a real guitar, you can hear it, if you don't, you probably won't... The lag of muted notes is another sign for that.
@ekalb2185 If any software i would go with something like Native instruments Komplete. But this is played directly through the keyboard, i think the patch is called Searing COSM, Its on most roland synth/workstations but this one in particular is the Roland Fantom X8

@rasdebol I sort of agree, although you can tell these samples are not a real guitar because the pitch bends sound a lil artificial...there are samples out there (kontakt guitar stuff) that are really authentic sounding tho...and although I play guitar (not a shredder) I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can play WAY fancier stuff on a keyboard and easier than a guitar =)

You can say what you want but first of all ha is not able to make Slides. And the second is that you can not say its the Same. I think the Same as pauldodds1. E-Guitar is Rock and nothing else. You have to be present on a Concert and make a show and not stand behind your expensive Keyboard. So People go and learn real instruments and not Keyboard :)
Actually Giannis, you have no idea what you are talking about! I have over forty years of playing experience and teach composition, improvisation, theory, formal examination training ect. I have worked very hard to be able to do what I do!! So there!!! =)

I don't think it's like that just yet, nothing looks as good as an axe, when a players playing a great guitar solo. The keyboards of today may have great guitar sounds, but it will never make the impact on Rock as the guitar, if you know what I mean. Guitar is Rock, Rock is Guitar. It's the look and symbolism of the guitar that it cannot and will not replace. I think Keyboard players are just glad to be able to have some decent guitar sounds without having to play guitar.
