  • noise noise noise and air horne lol

  • the response was bad. Use the siren more often beacause at some points in the video i was quite shocked that the truck was driving so fast but not warning pedestrians or other drivers!

  • lokalexi1. I take it your the idiot in the car at 2.03. These manual trucks are not manual they are semi manual. they have 12 gears and move up and down the gears like a an automatic.you can selec Dm, D, R, Rm. if you think you know every thing work out what they mean. The button on the floor if for the siren you numpty. Next you will be saying that when the Fire service get's a call to a house fire with people stuck inside you want them to respond at normal road speed.

  • Everybody has shifted from Dennis, or is shifting from Dennis, because Dennis Fire Appliances are no more. They've stopped making them. Instead they are going to concentrate on making bin wagons! It's a sad sad day.

  • To what is this vehicle responding?

Who is the idiot driver at 2:03?

Nice that the annoying siren is silenced when not needed.

    Enjoyed seeing the cityscape.

Seems like a very smooth ride for a truck.

    Thank you,

    RWG Denver, Colorado USA

  • this is a EFAD run wich stands for emergency fire appliance driving in this case the station have a new appliance and are getting use to how it handles and so on and the driver at 2:03 is an idiot ;)

  • efad means fake run - not going to a fire or emergency?

  • you could say that its so drivers of fire engines have to be EFAD trained/ qualified so the can run with blue lights sirens, EFAD is where they practice to pass there test or get use to a new vehicle

  • so an efad run is a f.a.k.e run?

  • This is a driver training run, there is no actual emergency.

  • inappropriate and immoral

if I knew this was a fake run, I would not yield or move

training can be done without illegally using lights and siren.

no exposing others to NEEDLESS risk.

no taking right of way from others who deserve it.

no causing others to move off the pavement, thus risking tire damage.

no annoying others in their homes and businesses and disturbing the peace.

how many citizens know of these runs?

    stupid

  • its not illegal to do this!...it is needed so they can get used to driving many different vehicles with diffent amounts of traffic and situates...it allows it to be as real as possible...

  • It says test driving in teh vid description :).

  • it's not responding to anything....the siren is a very good one....I h8 those tones you get in America where it gets higher each time you press the button...the continuous one.....h8 it

  • Nice video, suprised it has a manual gearbox! Looks quite fast though

  • has it got a manual...i thought they were all auto for an easier run???

  • manual can be sounded by a floor button and or steering wheel horn ring (it disconnects horn while siren unit is on)

We have a foot switch and a button on a cord which is easily held by driver or officer.

these risky, rude FAKE runs should be illegal.

you can learn everything driving normally and imagining what to do.

"Gets higher" what do you mean?

  • by "gets higher" i mean type in 'Philadelphia Fire Truck 1' into youtube click on the first video and you'll see what i mean...thats what I h8!

  • so you would like a driver to have his 1st emergeny call having never encounted other drivers and there actions, with the added pressure of making resonable progress?..facts speak for themselves.since we introduced EFAD courses there has been a 95% reduction in accidents involving trucks.I'd put any one of my trainees against any non-EFAD driver. We make it much safer for the crews and joe public. We have stns that have 80 odd calls a yr they get the same training as the guys who have 3000,

  • @lokalexi1 shut up u half wit, ur obviously completely numb as this type of training happens after they have driven at normal speeds. as im aware the driver training in the US is sh*t and thats why so many of ur fire engines plough into people at intersections everyday, killing or maiming them. also the US police love the UK roadcraft system of driving thats how we develop by driving at speed without warning equipment to help us, teaches us how to really drive :)

  • Very Nice!

  • Are these the appliances with shity gearboxes??

I think scanias are the best fire engine at the moment Ff just need to get use to them after being with dennis for so long lol

  • Good footage i've just passed my LGV course and am getting my EFAD training next month any tips would be gratefully received... i feel a bit apprehensive about it all it seems a bit scary especialy when peeps dont know how to react to Blue lights/sirens

  • We have been running Dennis for years and the last batch of trucks we had were Scanias. There was loads of problems with the scanias as the guys had been use to SS's Rapiers and Sabres. Now we have these new trucks we had the guy down from MAN(he's in the passenger seat) to give us the run down on them. This was my 1st drive in it.........and it is the worst appliance I have driven!!! manual gearbox, changed electronically and it has no place on a modern day truck.thanks for the comment

    gra

  • Interesting, my local brigade (Essex) switched from Sabres to Scanias a few years ago and have continued with Scania

  • Nice footage, what appliance are you driving, a regular pump?

  • Hi, I'm from Hereford&Worcester FRS and a crew manager at worcester...got 16 months to do!!..........On my rota days I am an EFAD instructor. The truck I'm driving is 1 of 6 new MAN trucks that we have just got.
