  • Hahaha American idiot - green day

  • Best guitar riff ever would be the one from soad's aerials or from radiohead's paranoid android

  • @mistajanga awkward moment when those songs are outside the decade.

  • @IndianaJoel93 Paranoid Android maybe, but Aerials is from 2001.

  • Plug In Baby? It's a fucking scale exercise....

  • @spameister as are most metal solos and riffs.

  • @JamesCmuse your point being?

  • I agree, PLUG IN BABY!

  • Weezer's weezer got me into many kinds of music.

  • Comfortably Numb is without a doubt the best guitar riff ever

and why the hell no one mentioned Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree? the riffs in that song are just divine

  • @gogolplex74 it was best riffs of the decade, 2000-2010, not ever.

  • Personally, I think Radiohead's Bodysnatchers is the coolest riff. Like, ever.

  • Either Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand or Reptilia by The Strokes.

  • Best riff is probably Take Me Out-Franz Ferdinand.

  • My favorite riff/guitar line is "This Charming Man" by the Smiths.

The first album I ever bought was OK Computer. That was the album that really got me into rock music for sure.

  • @venerableweevil you have an awesome taste in music

  • guitar riff de musica ligera , album dark side of the moon pink floyd

  • i guess it was a RCHP album, i mean i barely like them anymore but yeah. the thing that got me listening to rock all day was Toxicty by system of a down.

  • Plug In Baby has a sweet riff! Hard to say if it's the BEST in the past 10 years but it's definitely up there.

And I'd have to say Californication - RHCP got me into rock music.

  • best riff - Eyesburn - Sun

  • Blackholes and Revelations by Muse was my first album

  • Plug in Baby is really the best guitar riff!!

  • Force of Nature - Oasis

  • You Could Have It So Much Better- Franz Ferdinand was my first rock album

  • c'mon. Then Crooked Vultures? that whole album is filled with killer riffs

  • Trapt's "Headstrong" got me into rock music. I didn't really care for their album as a whole but, that song was epic.

  • for the album question, probably either appetite for destruction by gnr, never mind by nirvana, american idiot, or dookie by green day

  • why do ppl seem to not remember "american idiot" by green day

  • @gumchewingdude

Because it's not a riff...it's just a strand of powerchords.

That's just like calling Nirvana's "Smell Like Teen Spirit" guitar part a "Riff".

  • Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows, my sister showed it to me, I ended up liking it, later somehow branched into alternative rock, lul

  • "Can't stop" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. End of story. haha

  • know your enemy by Rage against the machine 1992

  • DOOKIE!! and the best guitar riff is prob seven nation army by the white stripes

  • And query 2: I honestly cant answer because I've been into rock for as long as I can remember. My brother is always listining to the music I love today. But my FIRST album I got was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - by Smashing Pumpkins. My favorite band =)

  • Some of my favorite most memorable riffs of the past decade:

    Float On - Modest Mouse

Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

    A- Punk - Vampire Weekend

    Cant Stop - RHCP

Tarantula / Doomsday Clock - Smashing Pumpkins

    No One Knows / 3's & 7's - QOTSA

  • @DX4LIFFE I would also put Seven Nation Army - White Stripes but the BASS riff is whats memorable in that song. NOT the guitar.

  • metallica

  • Album that got me into Rock Music... Led Zeppelin II

  • No One Loves Me and Neither Do I by Them Crooked Vultures

  • LEGEND BY BOB MARLEY!

cant stop rhcp best riff of the decade!

  • the bends by radiohead AND hot fuss by the killers :] found them as a naive little 4th grade girl. forever my favorites <3

  • ALTER BRIDGE - BLACKBIRD!

  • Um, Tool - Parabola

  • I have two different answers: Metal I was pulled in at a young age by godsmack and system of a down. Listened to heavy shit as a child.

Rock: i didn't fucking know rock existed until about age twelve, the day I heard welcome to the jungle by guns n roses and listened to appetite for destruction hundreds of time, found metallica, found Motley Crue, then everything exploded from Crue. The day I went to Cruefest my life changed. Didn't even know iron man was a real song until about age thirteen.

  • There's so many fucking awesome riffs. I love plug in baby but definitely not coolest riff.

  • best guitar riff has to be a song with mark tremonti on guitar!

    tremonti-riff = killer-riff!

  • Muse is the best band of thew last ten years :)

  • @Vaartshow yes it is :)

  • The album that got me in to rock - Appetite for Destruction!

  • My first one

Back in Black by (the frickin' awsome) AC/DC

  • Q1:Can't Stop-RHCP

    Q2:Appetite for Destruction-GnR

  • Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder... the 1st album I picked off my parent's shelf because it was a double album and caught my attention... ohh how astonished I was when I popped that in my CD player at age 7

  • Was White Stripes elephant out in the last ten years ? If it was then Seven Nation Army is probley the most memorable riff

  • The Day That Never Comes - Metallica

  • Ministry (Not an album) But A self made compilation

That discovered Rock Music Fir Me

But when i was 4 i used to listen to the prodigy:P

  • best riff: another muse song, Citizen Erased.

starting album: weird choice but I remember listening to NIN's The Downward Spiral at nine or ten years old and after hearing Mr. Self-Destruct, I liked rock music haha. I owe you one reznor;)

  • best riff, pretty much any riff by the white stripes

  • Nirvana Nevermind was the album for me, as for many people i'm sure

As far as plug in baby, its a great riff. I would play it on my guitar constantly till i learned it perfect. Fun to play too.

  • q1: Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home. best constructed riff of the decade. it will get them royalty money for years because tv shows and movies will continue to use it.

q2 System of a Down Self-titled. I had to be like 10 when it came out but my older brother blasting it in his room is what got me into rock music.

  • Q2: Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction

  • Q1: Plug in Baby certainly deserves first place. I can't think of any other more memorable riff that defines a song and the is so uniquely structured into a song. Maybe that's why Muse is the biggest rock band of today and probably the last BIG world rock band. Second place for me would probably be seven Nation Army. All the other riffs aren't so unique and all have a similar structure.

Q2: And the album that got me into rock music is Muse's live recording from the 2007 Wembley Stadium, HAARP.

  • Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes. Jack White is an Effing genius enough said. I thank Radiohead everytime I listen to Kid A for making such a masterful album. 10 years later this album still takes my breath away. But the album that got me into rock music was... all of the ones I listened to. There are too many great artists who helped me get into music.

  • ive always liked rock wasnt my favorite type of music guns and roses helped with that but the album that made rock my favorite genre was Resistence by MUSE

  • Oasis / (What's the Story) Morning Glory? / Wonderwall

  • The Way Of The FIst by Five Finger Death Punch.

  • Rock Query 1: Critical Acclaim by Avenged Sevenfold

Rock Query 2: Black Sabbath's Paranoid

  • Cant Stop by Red Hot Chili Peppers

and... I sort of grew up with by brothers and sister playing Chili Peppers, Oasis, Foo Fighters etc. Albums... But i guess the one i remember the most is Californiacation.

  • ADORE by Smashing Pumpkins.

I've become an avid Pumpkins listener thanks to Ava Adore (the song), Mellon Collie quickly became my fave album ever and from that i started exploring all that is ROCK!

  • Nirvana's Nevermind got me into rock music, before then I didn't listen to music.

  • @dpowanator It was actually the album that got into rock music, did'nt have to be lasy 10 years

  • Can't decide on best riff. Too many.

Album that got me into rock was Hybrid Theory.

  • master of puppets by metallica definately

  • best riff: the day that never comes metallica IMO

album that got me into rock: proper album was gnr greatest hits (i then learned that axl's a dick). but it was a demo tape from my unsigned uncle that got me interested. he came over from england for a holiday told me all about rock i got a demo off him and he inspired me to learn guitar and made me the kid i am today. he is extremely talented and must be signed if there is justice in this world

  • plug in baby IS the best riff!!!!Hands Down,MAtt Bellamy from Muse is a genius

  • Scumbag Blues - Them Crooked Vultures!

  • Nirvana-Nevermind

  • Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory!!!

  • 4 by Foreigner got me into rock

  • The Album That Got Me Interested in Rock Music...

    Elephant By The White Stripes

    Followed By

    The Blue Album by Weezer

  • TBH, Plug In baby's riff isn't all that "omg it's incredible", but then I'm not a Journalist, so my opion doesn't matter. XD It's good I'll grant you. Just not that good. Plus, Muse do have better riffs than that. Just saying, that's all

Best Riff? Very hard to decide. I actually can't think of one right off the top of my head. I could be here for days! I'll have to get back to you on that one.

    .

  • The best guitar riff of the decade is either Wake Up by Arcade Fire or Seven Nation Army.

I guess the album that got me into rock was The White Album.

  • i was playing plug in baby at band practice today it is amazing

  • huh... "Afterlife" does have a pretty good damn riff... IDK if it should be on the top 5...

  • Not really an album but there is a band... system of a down

  • AC/DC's Back in Black

  • @needles94 Its not really from this decade is it..

  • linkin park hybrid theory!!!!!!

  • No album, but In The End (Linkin Park), Aerials (SOAD), Falling Inside the Black (Skillet), Bring Me To Life (Evanescence), and Follow (Breaking Benjamin) got me into this good music.

  • Donots - Amplify the Good Times

  • best riff ever is definitely seven nation army

  • Comment removed

  • riff-cant stop by rhcp by far the best

  • I agree. Knights of Cydonia is the One. Toxicity - System of a Down. ...but earlier I'd say Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park.

  • IDK about the best riffof the decade, but PIB is really imaginative

query2: californication by the red hot chili peppers is what got me into rock music. then i found out of exile by audioslave in my parents room and listened to that all the time to so i guess those to got me into rock music.

  • The Offspring - Americana

Best riff (in my opinion) Pantera - Walk

  • Query1: I agree Plug in Baby is one of the best riffs. I dont know if it should be first but for me it's the most memorable.

Query 2: Radiohead In rainbows! Thank god Radiohead made music!

  • @RockItOutBlog You do know that Linkin Park's "A Thousand Suns" is compared to "Kid A" right? So it's very strange that you like Kid A but not A Thousand Suns...

  • @rockeryears:

It's not very strange at all, since A Thousand Suns is bad and Kid A is great.

  • Comment removed

  • or anything by Threat Signal...they have some sweet riffs

  • not only in this decade but ever...the best riff is In Flames - I Am The Highway

  • The best guitar riff of the last decade is quite clearly The White Stripes- Seven Nation Army

  • yeah, I was kind of into music for a while, but then I heard the album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank by modest mouse and realized music was something to be passionate about, not just for heavy guitar riffs and catchy lyrics. It also got me into radiohead which happens to be the coolest band EVAR!!!

  • i cant really think of any good riffs the last 10 years, but i can most definitely say that ACDC- back in black has the best (or most recognizable) riff there is.

  • Query 1: No I agree Plug In Baby is the best riff of the last decade, Seven Nation Army being in a close second

Query 2: Its kinda funny but I got into rock music around the same time as you, but for me the album was The Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication. It will forever hold a spot in my heart, and being my gateway album

  • best riff of last 10 yearss?

tough, but i really like reptillia-the strokes

album would have to be 1984-Van Halen

  • Pantera - Goddamn Electric or Revolution Is My Name

  • Green Day american idiot, not because its hard, but because its memorable

  • Honestly, this might sound sad/shameful but I honestly want to say what got me in to rock music was the game Guitar Hero 3. I know, see growing up I never owned very many CDs most of the music I listened to was whatever was on the radio at the time. I do remember listening to RHCP a little in the early 00s (now one of my favorite bands!) But up until that game I mainly listened to rap, and mainstream rap at that. I have seen the error of my ways and now my life kinda revolves around rock!

  • Back in Black was the album that got me into rock and roll. Hell's Bells is still my favorite AC/DC song!

  • seven nation army. Its the most memorable

  • Best Guitar Riff o' the decade: Redneck - Lamb of God or I Might Be Wrong - Radiohead

Album that got me in rock: The Downward Spiral - NIN

  • Knights of Cydonia would have made more sense than Plug in Baby, though I don't think either should have been #1. Very consistant band though.

  • ac/dc live at donnington

  • I was glad to see Halo by Machine Head on the Top 10 list. Great riff from a spectacular album

@CharlieButros, Fire it Up is a fun riff, but I wouldn't say the best.

  • For the album one it has to be For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge by Van Halen

  • Black Label Society - Fire it Up

    So awesome

best Guitar riff of the Decade

  • ]v[ E G A D E T ]-[!!!! peace sells!!!!!

  • The 2 albums that got me into rock music are Steve Vai's Alien Love Secrets and Linkin Park's Meteora

  • i don't really know which album got me into rock music. i pretty much grew up with the beatles, the stranglers, supertramp, warren zevon and a whole bunch of really weird 80s rock and roll albums, so maybe... Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? I remember when I was 4, my favourite song was lovely rita. :)

  • how is seven nation army not number one?

  • in my opinion, plug in baby is my favorite guitar riff of all time, mainly because it gets stuck in my head all day and its fun to play

  • Album: Rush- Vapor Trails

BEAST RIFF_ Iron Maiden out of the silent planet, after the versus when the guitar plays the same melody as Bruce's singing "out of the silent planet, out of the silent planet we are"

  • justist for all

  • Best Riff is Unholy Confessions by A7x

  • The record that got me into rock... laugh or not, but Shine On by JET. I still love it. The record that got me into rock for a second time over would be Lullabies to Paralyze by QOTSA.

  • all hope is gone by slipknot-the best guitar riff would be st.anger

  • Hmm... for a riff, Plug in Baby is really good and I think under rated BUT.... and I love Muse, but maybe not the best of 10 years. What riff is? Don't ask me that, theres a lotta good ones.

  • Plug in Baby is the best guitar riff, not for the past decade but just forever, how would you think of it i mean dude Matt Bellamy is a genius !!!!!!!!!!!!! And Muse - Absolution / Radiohead - Pablo honey both of these albums were passed on my my dad and i frickin loved them !!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah and albums that introduced me to rock music would be Bon Jovi (Slippery When Wet), yes it's true I was very young - but then proper introduction was through The Stone Roses.

  • For my favourite riffs of the last ten years I have a few, can't split them, it would be unfair to choose the best - Aisha by Death in Vagas, Last Day Of Magic by The Kills, Better To Be by Liam Finn, Scarecrows On A Killer Slant by Liars, You Losin' Out by Two Gallants, Black Math by The White Stripes, House of Cards and Weird Fishes by Radiohead!

  • best guitar riff = Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes (obviously)

  • Plug in baby is an awesome riff!!! I even have it as my ringtone.
