I have two different answers: Metal I was pulled in at a young age by godsmack and system of a down. Listened to heavy shit as a child.

Rock: i didn't fucking know rock existed until about age twelve, the day I heard welcome to the jungle by guns n roses and listened to appetite for destruction hundreds of time, found metallica, found Motley Crue, then everything exploded from Crue. The day I went to Cruefest my life changed. Didn't even know iron man was a real song until about age thirteen.

Q1: Plug in Baby certainly deserves first place. I can't think of any other more memorable riff that defines a song and the is so uniquely structured into a song. Maybe that's why Muse is the biggest rock band of today and probably the last BIG world rock band. Second place for me would probably be seven Nation Army. All the other riffs aren't so unique and all have a similar structure.

Q2: And the album that got me into rock music is Muse's live recording from the 2007 Wembley Stadium, HAARP.

Honestly, this might sound sad/shameful but I honestly want to say what got me in to rock music was the game Guitar Hero 3. I know, see growing up I never owned very many CDs most of the music I listened to was whatever was on the radio at the time. I do remember listening to RHCP a little in the early 00s (now one of my favorite bands!) But up until that game I mainly listened to rap, and mainstream rap at that. I have seen the error of my ways and now my life kinda revolves around rock!
