@charlieemk1 a simple rope & pulley system. the guy who opens the door for the guests holds the rope and lets the doll drop right in front of them.

Hey there, great job, y'all!! I do a haunted house too, and I found a super cheap way to make the walls!! I use dollar store black lawn and leaf bags and tape them together w/ clear packing tape (also dollar store) they make a great rustling sound and it's easy to cut them so they are flat, and tape them together. I fold them down at the top and run twine (also dollar store) thru so I can hang them!!!!!!

@likebthf Not as much as you think. The biggest expense is probably the walls(tarps). Hopefully you have friendly neighbors who will lend you stuff.

I like the set up a lot, makes the most of your space. I did my home haunt on our porch for years (it was larger than average so we'd get 3 themes into it). But just last year I started using the whole yard and it has worked out great.

I use a chainsaw guy at the end and might try to set him up similar to yours. Thanks for the idea!

Haha in fourth grade a classmate of mine gave my teacher a chucky doll for Christmas... My teacher kept it out for like 2 days so he could freak us out put whenever he pushed the button the left it in the teachers office and I bet it still stands their today to freak us out whenever we go into that room :D

We use heavy duty brown tarp for the walls. we use little hooks to hang them up and weigh them w=down with a 2x4

As for props.. go visit a Halloween store after Halloween. that is where the deals are.

my wife and I are building a haunted house again this year and the fire dept guy is a stickler. What do you use for temp walls? We are suppose to use something that is fire resistant? last year he wrote us a ticket for too much fog lol

@weatherman181 Well, we use heavy duty, brown/dark green plastic tarps and we just hang them by hooks from the ceiling and weigh then down with 2x4's. I don't think you have very many fireproof options when it comes to this. But if you want to be safe from the fire dept guy, you could maybe have a few fire extinguishers around the haunt?

@weatherman181 - I thought only professional haunted houses needed to adhere to fire codes. This guy might be jerking you around. Did you fight the fog ticket? I would check with the actual codes dept. The fog thing is absolutely outrageous and ridiculous. Unless it's billowing out into the street, the fog should not even be an issue. The guy is a dingleberry!

@ITAMEMATIO Its just a Chucky doll that you can get from Spencer's Gifts with a string tied to its feet. The person letting in the guests would hold the string and let the doll drop when they we're ready to go through the haunt.
