  • can a girl be one?

  • I did the same thing at Creech AFB, NV; 05 - 06 for Air Force SFS deploying, CLS Instructor... time of my life!

  • I live for BCT on NOV 8th. 8w Hooah!

  • @MrsBettieG my best freind shiped the same day same job lol you'll probably meet him. jaryd

  • Dude, I'm feeling the music in this. Awesome video.

  • 2:40 is where a bounding overwatch was seriously called-for! Everyone was machine-gun bait!!!

  • Soldier: I am not running out there to save him! We are under suppressive fire and heavy artillery!

Combat Medic: Don't worry, my balls deflect bullets because they are made of fuckin' lead. *Runs out onto the field to retrieve injured soldier, punching an insurgent on the way back.*

  • I'm in the whiskey side training right now.

  • Proudly serving as a 68w in the 161st area support medical battalion.

  • What ASVAB score to do you need to become a 68w anyone know?

  • @redneckchick369 Just shoot for anything higher than 50. I got an 85 so I had no issue, but there are people with 68W who got mid to high 40's. So I would just say go higher and shoot for >50

  • @redneckchick369 like a 105 GT score.

  • @redneckchick369 Its your line scores that are important, score 107 on GT and I believe 105 on ST. I'm signed for 68W, I think I scored 56 on the ASVAB but the line scores are what count.

  • if i were able-bodied I would do this in the Marines. Thanks to all who serve. I pray for you guys often.

  • I remember Camp Bullis from AIT, so this is some training some soldiers get before shipping out? It looks pretty high speed, I hope I get this to refresh myself...

  • How much does it cost to get into Combat Medic School ? Do you have to go through the traditional army training to be a medic ?

  • it dosnt cost you a dime, you enlist in the army as a 68W you go to basic combat training then AIT to learn how to be a medic, just got done with that AIT not too long ago loved it!

  • @rambo89 Thanks ! :) Thank you so much for serving our country ! I love all of our men and women out there but the medics and corpsman are my favorite !!

  • Er, the actual ASVAB, not the Practice one

  • I qualified for a navy corpsman on the PASVAB, not sure when I'm shipping out to bootcamp. But I've always dreamed of being a medic ever since I was little. Something about the aspect of saving a life makes me feel better about myself. Americans have always thought of saving lives before anything else. And I am glad I share the same feelings many people do. Respect to the many medics that are deployed around the world, and the medics that are out there fighting and saving lives, god bless.

  • Thank you so much for doing what you do for this country . It makes my cry so many times about the things that you sacrifice to give me freedom . When I am an adult and I have anough money , I will cook for you guys and be there for you . Whether just to talk or to be a person to vent to . Give me a few more years .

  • I see the glow of a patriot, and a thankful one at that about you.

  • You are welcome .

  • I scored an 84 on the asvab but im temporarily dqd til i can get a waiver for my psoraisis....this is the job im looking forward to joining...odds are will there be an opening?

  • Always try in Oct, that's when the recruiting year starts and they are more likely to give waivers. That's when I'm aiming to try, 'cept I need a tough waiver to get, one for my epilepsy history, but I want to be a 68W, my husband gave me his blessing for that job

  • @oliphant67 you're asvab score is fine i got a 66 and i go to meps tomorrow my recruiters told me my score was fine

  • I am really considering being a combat medic before going to school, and I noticed that they carry weapons in the video. are they also supposed to participate with the soldiers? like actually shooting people? (that might be a deal breaker for me. i wouldn't be able to live with shooting someone).

  • Yes, the combat medic carries weapons. Someone else is going to have to elaborate on the caliber that they are allowed, but I believe it is limited to the M4 and the M9 if I am not mistaken, but correct me if I am wrong. I'm planning on finishing my degree this sememster and joining as a 68W full time.

  • @titaniclover42 yeah you will go with soldiers and be a fighter in firefights. You might be required to shoot someone. If i'm not mistaken for every 40 soldiers you must have at least one combat medic with you. That means you could be at the bases or fighting with infantry. It's the flip of a coin. I'm going in Jan for this.

  • i really want to be a combat medic but the fact that i have to carry a gun with me and might be required to shoot it, kind of turned me off... anyway, how do they decide if you're at the bases or at the battlefield?...

  • It's a flip of a coin, if your at a base with a regiment ready to deploy and they need a medic, your going. you catch them after they've left you'll probably stay. now none of these are 100%, some will stay no matter what happens and some will be deployed a million times. so literally it's heads or tails. You also need to get over the fear of taking a life. you may need to just to keep you alive.

  • thanks! that helped...

  • thanks so much for the comments! and thank you so much for serving! really your courage is such a huge part of what inspired me to want to be part of it.

  • If you're not willing to kill for your country stay the hell out of the military.

  • yes i can totally see where you're coming from. something a little different than a 68w would probably be better for me. thanks

  • "The combat medic is taught that he is a soldier first and a medic second, Ones firepower may be the best treatment for an injured soldier." atleast until able to evacuate them to a higher echelon of Care. I just finished the 68w course (graduated Dec 16), and although parts of it suck, It was the most fun I've ever had and the training was really worth the suck, Embrace every part of thecourse and it's worth it. oh yeah and "PE time is PE time."

  • Listen up I finished this training and it is awesome training. First you get EMT certified then they take you to the whiskey side. I can't tell you guys nd gals the respect people show medics. Hands down the greatest and most rewarding job in the Army. Do this training I promise you will love it. I definitely loved it one of my greatest experiences in life.

  • :D I want to be a medic

  • I loved Huston! I went to BCT at Jackson back in Feb of 05, then to Sam for 6 weeks for Whisky School. I was already an EMT-I, so I just had to go to Whiskey school. Time of my life! I love the FAST IO. If you get a chance to be a dummy, do it! Its awesome!

  • why do you think you get a rifle? to feel special? the taliban don't care about the geneva convention and RoEs. all they care about is killing an american and a combat medic is an easy target.

  • Leaving for Basic 20 Oct. Then to Fort Sam Houston for Combat Medic training. Can't wait.

  • hi, i was wondering what you need to score in the ASVAB to qualify for combat medic?

  • GT 110 i believe

  • "as long as you don't carry it patching someone up i dont think you'll get shot at because its a war crime"

are you fucking retarded? do you honestly think taliban give a shit about war crimes? they're 5x more likely to aim at you if you are a medic and expose yourself.. stick to computer games kid you need at least half a brain to be 68w

  • If you take the taliban out of the picture he is right. We wont always be fighting taliban, if we go to war with a legit country he is right about carrying weapons

  • swore in on tuesday as combat medic june 28 to fort sill

  • man i still cant decide wether i want to stay in the fire department or be a medic in the army!?!

  • do combat medics carry their personal M16 with them when they go in now? i was talking to my stepfather's dad he was an airborn medic, he said they didnt back then. so just curious

  • im 5,000 viewer :D

  • I jacked up my ankle on those steps carrying a casualty and had to keep going of course. Thought i was gonna pass out from the pain. good stuff. Now im a line medic, leave for Afghan Nov 15th

  • good luck, I cant wait to join the army

  • i leave for basic in december to ft.leonard wood im excited

  • im laughing my ass off at all these posts..because i was at ft sam almost 5 or 6 months ago and now im 4 weeks away from going to Iraq lol enjoy ur time at ft sam it was the time of my life anyway

  • I'm not in the military, but I bet EVERYBODY respects a medic,

  • Anybody who runs into fire to help somebody that's wounded has balls dude... lol

  • I cant wait! I'm shipping out to basic July 15th to Fort. Sill then over to Fort. Sam Houston for AIT as a 68W.

  • enjoy fort sill there probably still on the low stress thing cause of the suicide rate, i just got to fort sam, got a bunch of ft.sill's here, its alright here, first 3 weeks are basic with a cell phone and a hour of personal time before lights out.

  • Low stress? I never heard of BCT having a low stress system. Thats better than what I expected out of Ft. Sam, I thought the first 5 weeks we would still be stuck with writing letters!

  • dont get it wrong man they give you all kinds of privledges and shit. they just treat you like fucken shit. or maybe its just f co. but we phase wednesday, you wont be stuck writing letters, just laughing at the dumb people around you, we had someone get taken into custody by the mp's last night for showing up to formation drunk and harassing the duty nco.

  • bummer dude. Foxtrot. Pumpkin medics will be here a while. Charlie graduates in 28 days.

  • hooah, good to hear, and yeah our phase shirts blow cock, it looks like a fucken turkey on the back not a falcon. lmao

  • Looks like I may be seeing you there. I ship out on july 15th to fort sill as well then I'm off to Fort Sam Houston.

  • we can get 12 gauges too

  • I was already psyched about being a 68W, but this video really hit it on home. Excellent choice of music.

  • Of course you can defend yourself.

I think medics carry a carbine and a hand gun. I think the m4 and m9 barreta

  • you get what your unit issues you; M9, M4, or M16 but rarely more than one weapon.

  • can you still fight ie. actually fire a rifle as a 68w if you are assigned to a field unit? ( not counting socm ie. special forces?)

  • Medics function as a rifleman until someone gets wounded. The Geneva Convention lists medics wearing the red cross and giving medical attention as "noncombatants" and limits what weapons they can use to maintain the noncom status. The people we fight now don't really much care about Geneva so medics can pretty much use anything that's handy to defend themselves and their wounded comrades.

  • awsome...thanks

  • some of us will get assigned to an inf unit when we go over, some to a csh. right now my unit is a csh when i go back home cus im reserve, but when i get deployed, more than likely i'll be pulling patrols with 11 bang bang(inf). but basic really puts alot of the combat skills in you. you get a good bit of urban and combat fighting training in there. well i did at least.

  • You're with a Reserve CSH and you'll deploy with one unless you find your own mission. 11B medic, not a chance. Active duty and NG have their own medics. Good luck if you even get to work in the emergency room.

  • I am leaving July 1st 2009 for Ft. Sill then on to Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio for 68W, hell yeah! It looks like it will be the shit!

  • Ft Sam is great but we didnt have a helicopter... its death by power point until you get to STFTX training over at FOB Courage. But no sweat, you'll have your fun at basic. and you can cross your fingers to get stationed at Ft Bullis

  • medics rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ya cant be both!

  • snipers have more first aid training than the regular soldier, but there are also combat lifesavers--which are infantrymen with more medical aid training

Combat medics have great respect though

  • what??

  • Snipers get more first aid/medical training than the regular soldier.

Medics get more respect for what they do.

Combat lifesavers are soldiers with more medical training than a regular soldier.

    Those are options for SoldierV5

  • i am joining the national guard after i get and associates degree in nursing and the recruiter told me he could guaranty me a position as a medic and i'll sign up to go over see's so with any luck i'll end up there one day.

  • where are u guys located coz my kid is medic that is getting deployed in jan. he was in miss. then wisc. and now louisiana

  • We were in San Antonio, TX. But now the task force has been relocated to Wisconsin.
