  • Got any 'after these messages' from 1992 ?

  • these used to be so funny back then!

  • i used to have nightmares of those things biting me

  • I have these as a ringtone :)

  • THANK YOU!

  • I remember those. Now that I'm 30, I can honestly say that that fire hydrant is still a Douchebag after all these years. LOL

  • YES! This brings back such memories :-D

  • What shows came on on ABC back in the 80's, because I always thought it was mostly Disney shows.

  • Government mandated bumpers.

  • Did I step into my childhood?

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion - mine too

  • How is it that I, now 30 yrs old, am STILL creeped out by those?!? :-)

  • 1986

  • I remember watching some of these bumpers when I went to the mall on Saturday Morning. There was a store that had stacks of tvs and they would always have it on the ABC channel.

  • OMG I remember this shit. LOL !!!!!!

  • I remember those!

  • i used to love thise things!

  • I was 5 when these aired! I still remember em! Slimer & the Real Ghostbusters was my fav cartoon on Saturdays that yr!

  • So that is why dogs hate fire hydrants so much. They are fucking pricks!

  • @jasop616 I KNOW, RIGHT?? I was like, "Oh, MAN- that was 'Ghostbusters' gettin' ready to come on!!!" XD

  • I love it! I never forgot about these:)

  • My friend and his brother(then later my cousin) would do these bumpers when they'd play around with their tape recorder and say "dutti" at the end. "After these messages, we'll be right back:DUTTI". "Dutti" in Punjabi means "shit". LOL

  • @steeltownbrown52

    haha "doody"

  • @steeltownbrown52 Where did your brother learn that?

  • Comment removed

  • I miss these soo much! I've been showing these to my 5 and 7 year old sons and they love them! They didn't even know that back in the 80s they did claymation on tv. The ones that were the most memorable for me were the three singers that swap heads (EVERYBODY remembers that one) and the fire hydrant and the dog. My oldest one likes the one where the cowboy whistles and his horse falls on top of him.

  • The one where they change heads always creeped me out as a kid.

  • They used these bumpers FOREVER!

  • love it!

  • oh memories, yay!

  • I remember these SO well, my guy does too.

  • The Real Ghostbusters FTW

  • 1982 here!!

  • I was wondering where that catch phrase was from.

  • man what happened to GOOD Saturday morning cartoons

    and GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!

  • I'm 30 and I remember when these ABC first started with these bumpers..lol. It was after a major revamp of their Saturday morning lineup. I think they had done a preview of the cartoons and everything that Friday. Back then ALL the major cartoons were on network TV so Sat. mornings were a big deal not only for us kids at the time but for advertisers.

  • Yes, I remember these ABC Saturday morning bumpers myself. They began around 1988 and were used throughout the early-to-mid 90s.

  • omg these were on when the ghostbsuters was on the channel.

  • HA HA Ha I loved these. It brings a tear to my eye to watch. God bless you tube and all of their classic 80 uploaders.

  • Did they still play these in the early to mid '90's? I think I remember the one with the three people singing.

  • watching these gives me fond childhood memories. wish i could hop into a time machine and relive the good old days once again.

  • 00:12 - GHOSTBUSTERS

  • 81! and i remember this so well lol

  • born in 83 and oh hell yeah I remeber these!!!!!!

  • I remember that when watching Sonic Satam

  • I still get this stuck in my head when it creeps into my conscious thoughts from my subconscious. Even after I haven't heard it in over 15 years. Wow.

  • and the and now back to the show<'

    nobody

  • omg i remember this i always loved the dog one ^_^

  • Ooooh saw a little snippet of the opening of The Real Ghostbusters in there. Which I might, was waaaaay better than the original cartoon back from '83 or '84.

  • I remember these but I was born in 1988!

  • 1985! here ^_^

  • @Scrawnyfish

How's that possible, if you were born in '88 and these aired, the same year? I'd imagine you'd have been WAY TOO young to remember.

  • I remember that they played them during Goosebumps and Gumby.

  • @Scrawnyfish

    I see.

  • Forgot all about those!

  • You know, I remember these. I was about six years old when I watched these. Believe it or not. I had a nightmare about the Genie from Aladdin saying this. Except his voice was much deeper.

  • I remember these! Saturday mornings in front of the TV, with a big bowl of Pacman cereal. Great memories!

  • The first "after these messages" bumper takes me back! Saturday morning cartoons FTW!

  • Reminds me of my childhood.. I so remember this. My Saturday would start off by waking up around 6:00 in the morning eating cereal watching cartoons in the living room with my brother and sister. Then when 12:00 P.M hit when the cartoons go off.. We'd go outside & play or hang out at a friends house and play Atari or regular Nintendo... Memories!

  • man i can relate to that so much. it was great being a kid of the 80's and early 90's.

  • lol yeah same here, when we're kids we're urging so hard to be tall and big, you can do the big kids stuff, now i'm older i miss those years, it was fun being a kid get all those toys, didnt have to think of drugs, other bad stuff, i wish i can go back just once, have fun again

  • omg i remember atari that was awsome, i remember using the controlers as telephones ^_^

  • you just old, same kind of people who complain about Nickelodeon today compared to your day

  • Man i miss being a kid.

  • i was born in 1985, i wonder when they stopped using these

  • i remember those like they were yesterday.

  • I started smiled extra hard while watching this!

  • watchin this makes me very sad man I miss this

  • OMG it feels like yesterday I woke up with the remote making me a bowl of cereal(coco puffs, lucky charms, frosted flakes, golden grams and the best for lat honey nut cheerios)the clock is 6:55 holding the remote to see what station will show saturday morning cartoons and then this pops on and you know you have just trully started your saturday morning cartoons from 7 am to 11 am this was the time that started your saturday now saturday feels like tuesday bullshit.

  • aw man, i was getting excited when the Ghostbusters opening started playing for a second there, haha

and damn, that fire hydrant really fucks up that dog

  • Yeah, the fire hydrant was kind of a dick... but I guess I would be too, if I got pissed on for years.

The hydrant roaring at the dog was an instant classic. ;-)

  • I was only 2 in 1988. so I don't remebr anything. But I like 2 see what aired and what commericals they showed in thoses years. It's interseting. I love watching Old Commerical

    One of 5,473 viewers

Ryan relaxing on the counch with Lisa.

I remebred watching ABC's One Saturday Morning back in the day.

  • These were on for a long time after 1988... because I was born in 86 and remember these bumpers!

  • God, I just went back twenty years. I would sit on the floor in my living room in front of the tv and get ready for "The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show" with a bowl of Fruity Pebbles in my lap. Wow!

  • OMG from my childhood in the 90s i still remember as of today!! thank you thank you

  • Oh my god, I probably havent seen these since I was 8 years old or so. Thanks!

  • You can say that again. All the new stuff is computer animated crap.

  • Wow this brings back memories...I remember seeing this a lot on Saturday mornings.

  • WOW! I can't believe I found this! I still sometimes sing this at commercial breaks!

  • I wish i would've taped thses cartoons back then. Damnit! All i did was tape the adventures of winnie the pooh hefalumpfs and woozlez. lol..

  • i so badly miss this stuff. it was better than the crap we have now.

  • saturday morning cartoons die to me is when spongebob came or that may be cartoons period.

  • I loved the doo-wop ones they had. When I was six the head roll one was mesmerizing to me for some reason. I can't believe that I remembered them all 20 years later. If only Saturday morning cartoons still had great bumpers like these.

  • really I wish they still were around I bet there ratings will go up this were classic I wish these bumpers were cartoons as well.

  • great !

  • Man this was back when being a jid was awesome. We had some of the best cartoons on many stations. Now I feel sorry for these kids. They're TV shows are just plan sad.And they don't have hardly any toy commercials.Thats what being a kid is all about

  • yeah man you hit the nail right on the head dude the commercials are bad the cartoons are bas even the networks went to shit that's why I let my nephew watch my old ones to let him know how cartoons were like.

  • LOL!! That was one MEAN fire hydrant. Poor dog!! My favorite is when the hydrant hits a stream of water at the dog. Great way to wake up to on Saturdat Mornings. Thanks for posting this, ntheory.

  • hell yeah they made saturdays morning fun as hell to get up to do it kick start your morning and get you ready for a day of fun sadly they don't post shit like this anymore.

  • God I never realized how old I am. And that this is now 20 years old!!

How in the F*ck did that happen?! It only seems like yesterday.

  • Same feelings here friend, when Saturday mornings really used to be something special huh? ;)

I also can't believe it's been so long since our Undertaker used to have that classic entrance with Paul Bearer complete with gray gloves and hat hehe

I used to wake up watch the ABC toons and then switch to WWF Superstars to see the next Undertaker burial :)

  • your telling me if I get billions of dollars I'll put this back on these are classic.

  • same thing here man I'm 20 years old and it seems like yesterday I woke up and made a bowl of cerical to watch these cartoons.

  • OMG I remember these, especially when the dog gets owned by the hydrant. That's Ghostbusters at 0:14! I feel so old remembering these.

  • The Real Ghostbusters! Whoo Hoooo!

The best Cartoon of the 80's!

  • One time there was a locked door and Winston said, "I have a key that will unlock any door!" then he blasted it with his proton pack. Damn, Winston was cool.

  • LOL Yes he was. :D

  • good fucking times man. i miss that shit

  • I'm bummed out...I miss those times so much for no reason. Nostalgia bombed.

  • haha this is sooooo coool I missed these commercials. I loved being a kid, cartoons now suck

  • i feel so old

  • Holy shit....I remember this and how my dad would like repeat it.

  • This was one thing that made commercial breaks something to look forward too. My favorite one is with those singers. The head swapping is just too funny.

  • I haven't seen these in FOREVER. Thank you so much yo.

  • i miss this stuff. i tried watching saturday morning tv and they don't have the bugs bunny and tweety show anymore. matter of fact most if not all cartoons are gone.

  • a friend of mine always sings this when he is about to leave.. funny that i found it on here

  • to me when foxkids became the foxbox that when saturday morning went to hell now there no reason to get up on saturdays the kids to day are only watching spongbob.sad

  • Oh my god!!!! I completely forgot about that!!! Thanks for bringing it back to me :)

  • this is what we should go back to.

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I can't believe I forgot about these bumpers!!!!! SO MANY MEMORIES I FORGOT GROWING UP! Today Saturday Mornings SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK!!!! Nothing but damn Japanese Anime...whatever happened to American Saturday Mornings...I guess we have outsourced yet again!

  • mArRy mE! XD

yeah, and the anime has to be butchered too. i think we'd still accept saturday mornings if the anime were just translated the way the were meant to be...

  • hahah omg i remember this

  • i remember them good , ghostbusters!

  • I remember these! "After these messages.... We'll be right back" :D I used to live for Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid... Unlike most of my friends, we didn't get cable (at least until the late 90s) and this was the ONLY way for me to catch any cartoons...

  • Me too. No cable for me growing up because the road we lived on did not have enough people on it for the cable company to put in a cable. It was a long dirt road with about 5 houses on it.

Waking up Sat morning at like 6am and having Cheerios with a ton of sugar spooned on top of it because my parents weren't awake yet.

  • But what was the purpose in that??

  • What??!! Why did YOUR OWN MAIN PAGE use to say that you were born in 1992, anyways?

  • I thought you told me you were born in **1992**!!! AND THAT YOUR EARLIEST MEMORIES WERE FROM 1995! Hm?

  • Heck no, we LOVED Power Rangers, we LOVED Bat-Man: The Animated Series, we LOVED those great Marvel Cartoons, we LOVED Pokemon. We have nothing to "get over", we're proud to be 1990s kids...

  • I know, it was just as great as the 1980s were! >:-(

And kids had VCRs in the 80's.

  • Why does everyone hate the 1990s so much and like to group it with a sucky decade like this one??

  • i remember those...

  • Yeah I must've been like 5 when these were on

  • that was a good time.i miss being a child and im ony 21 years old.

  • And doesn't it suck worse to be too young to remember Saturday Mornings before it's early 1990s decline?

    I feel for you kids.

  • What's wrong with the 1990s?

  • The death of Saturday Morning Cartoons, maybe?

  • Didn't that happen in THIS decade??

  • they were taken from the new adventures of winnie the pooh, the bugs bunny and tweety show, fudge, bump in the night, reboot, cro, and schoolhouse rock commercial in going back in those days. so were the other saturday morning programs on ABC.

  • I used to love the one where the hydrant licks the dog in the mouth.

  • The heads rolling one was always our favorite! Thanks for posting this-can't wait to surprise my sister with this.

  • What ever happened to the littles (that mouse cartoon show)I remember seeing this bumper during that show.

  • It still plays on certain networks, actually.

  • The nostalgia. Bring back the 80's.

  • I remember Watching this when I was like 2 years old.

  • Man fibbers are sure annoying.

  • oh my god i had to be 7 or 8 years old when these came out. Those were so cool

  • Hey I remember these! I was just born the year before but i think they used to show them in later years b/c i remember it.

  • I'm about to cry right now.

  • holy crap!! i remember that!!! good times good times.

  • holy crap i remember this.

  • OMG I feel like I am 8 again!!!!

  • Animation is very high-tech for its time, before 3d cartoons became more commonplace in the late 90's/ especially early 2000's.

  • Holy crap! Makes me want to see some "Bump In The Night."

  • I remember ABC started carrying these around 1987-the last time I say them was around 1992

  • Yes these were used by CBS about 1987 to about 1988.Then they began reusing them again around 1990 if I recall

  • Those were hilarious!!! :) Thanks for posting!

  • I have an episode of the Flintstone Kids with the Fire Plug bumpers. When I saw them I was typically like "Hey, I remember those!"

  • I still sing that tune on occasion. Most of the people I associate with don't get it because they're too young. But I have fun singing the last version ("fire hydrant sprays dog"), whether anybody gets it or not. ;p

  • I can't believe I still remember these after all these years!

    Thanks for posting these!

They still carried those tags shortly before ABC Saturday became Disney's one Saturday morning.

  • I remember these nice find.
