I remember watching some of these bumpers when I went to the mall on Saturday Morning. There was a store that had stacks of tvs and they would always have it on the ABC channel.
My friend and his brother(then later my cousin) would do these bumpers when they'd play around with their tape recorder and say "dutti" at the end. "After these messages, we'll be right back:DUTTI". "Dutti" in Punjabi means "shit". LOL
@CelesteK You`re reading it wrong, I said my friend and his brother, and my cousin would do it when he would do recordings. My friend and his brother are both 2nd gen Punjaban.
I miss these soo much! I've been showing these to my 5 and 7 year old sons and they love them! They didn't even know that back in the 80s they did claymation on tv. The ones that were the most memorable for me were the three singers that swap heads (EVERYBODY remembers that one) and the fire hydrant and the dog. My oldest one likes the one where the cowboy whistles and his horse falls on top of him.
I'm 30 and I remember when these ABC first started with these bumpers..lol. It was after a major revamp of their Saturday morning lineup. I think they had done a preview of the cartoons and everything that Friday. Back then ALL the major cartoons were on network TV so Sat. mornings were a big deal not only for us kids at the time but for advertisers.
I still get this stuck in my head when it creeps into my conscious thoughts from my subconscious. Even after I haven't heard it in over 15 years. Wow.
Ooooh saw a little snippet of the opening of The Real Ghostbusters in there. Which I might, was waaaaay better than the original cartoon back from '83 or '84.
You know, I remember these. I was about six years old when I watched these. Believe it or not. I had a nightmare about the Genie from Aladdin saying this. Except his voice was much deeper.
Reminds me of my childhood.. I so remember this. My Saturday would start off by waking up around 6:00 in the morning eating cereal watching cartoons in the living room with my brother and sister. Then when 12:00 P.M hit when the cartoons go off.. We'd go outside & play or hang out at a friends house and play Atari or regular Nintendo... Memories!
lol yeah same here, when we're kids we're urging so hard to be tall and big, you can do the big kids stuff, now i'm older i miss those years, it was fun being a kid get all those toys, didnt have to think of drugs, other bad stuff, i wish i can go back just once, have fun again
OMG it feels like yesterday I woke up with the remote making me a bowl of cereal(coco puffs, lucky charms, frosted flakes, golden grams and the best for lat honey nut cheerios)the clock is 6:55 holding the remote to see what station will show saturday morning cartoons and then this pops on and you know you have just trully started your saturday morning cartoons from 7 am to 11 am this was the time that started your saturday now saturday feels like tuesday bullshit.

God, I just went back twenty years. I would sit on the floor in my living room in front of the tv and get ready for "The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show" with a bowl of Fruity Pebbles in my lap. Wow!
I loved the doo-wop ones they had. When I was six the head roll one was mesmerizing to me for some reason. I can't believe that I remembered them all 20 years later. If only Saturday morning cartoons still had great bumpers like these.
Man this was back when being a jid was awesome. We had some of the best cartoons on many stations. Now I feel sorry for these kids. They're TV shows are just plan sad.And they don't have hardly any toy commercials.Thats what being a kid is all about
yeah man you hit the nail right on the head dude the commercials are bad the cartoons are bas even the networks went to shit that's why I let my nephew watch my old ones to let him know how cartoons were like.
LOL!! That was one MEAN fire hydrant. Poor dog!! My favorite is when the hydrant hits a stream of water at the dog. Great way to wake up to on Saturdat Mornings. Thanks for posting this, ntheory.
hell yeah they made saturdays morning fun as hell to get up to do it kick start your morning and get you ready for a day of fun sadly they don't post shit like this anymore.
Same feelings here friend, when Saturday mornings really used to be something special huh? ;)
I also can't believe it's been so long since our Undertaker used to have that classic entrance with Paul Bearer complete with gray gloves and hat hehe

to me when foxkids became the foxbox that when saturday morning went to hell now there no reason to get up on saturdays the kids to day are only watching spongbob.sad
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I can't believe I forgot about these bumpers!!!!! SO MANY MEMORIES I FORGOT GROWING UP! Today Saturday Mornings SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK!!!! Nothing but damn Japanese Anime...whatever happened to American Saturday Mornings...I guess we have outsourced yet again!
yeah, and the anime has to be butchered too. i think we'd still accept saturday mornings if the anime were just translated the way the were meant to be...
I remember these! "After these messages.... We'll be right back" :D I used to live for Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid... Unlike most of my friends, we didn't get cable (at least until the late 90s) and this was the ONLY way for me to catch any cartoons...
Me too. No cable for me growing up because the road we lived on did not have enough people on it for the cable company to put in a cable. It was a long dirt road with about 5 houses on it.
Waking up Sat morning at like 6am and having Cheerios with a ton of sugar spooned on top of it because my parents weren't awake yet.
Heck no, we LOVED Power Rangers, we LOVED Bat-Man: The Animated Series, we LOVED those great Marvel Cartoons, we LOVED Pokemon. We have nothing to "get over", we're proud to be 1990s kids...
they were taken from the new adventures of winnie the pooh, the bugs bunny and tweety show, fudge, bump in the night, reboot, cro, and schoolhouse rock commercial in going back in those days. so were the other saturday morning programs on ABC.
I still sing that tune on occasion. Most of the people I associate with don't get it because they're too young. But I have fun singing the last version ("fire hydrant sprays dog"), whether anybody gets it or not. ;p
Got any 'after these messages' from 1992 ?
