  • This song embodies what vampire stories SHOULD have at their core. It’s not about sex. It’s the concept that now changed as a person, there is no going back, and you can’t change your new direction, you either have to accept, embrace or die.

There are many parallels with our normal lives that allow us to identify with the vampire’s conundrum.

You wanted to be a fireman when you grew up- but now you work in an office and do cost analysis. You turned EVIL

  • @NightVista Hear hear. That's the most powerful aspect.

  • 2:26 so epic!!!! i´m crying.....

  • It does have a bit of a werewolf theme, as well as a vampire one. The tune sounds like "Les Feuilles Mortes"

  • @MmeLEnfer It also reminds me of the werecats in New Orleans in Cat People

  • Anne Rice influenced a lot of great artists. Savage Garden, for example, got their name from The Vampire Lestat.

  • Beautiful album. I have it in all forms. Digital, CD, Cassette and vinyl. I must admit, in my recent vinyl fascination, "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" is the best. Amazing sonic experience on a turntable.

  • Most of you should know this song is not about vampires but a werewolf. Just because it is set in New Orleans and at this present time(2011) vampires are all the rage, this particular song is about a werewolf!

  • @xunique1313 show your source - as i don't wanna waste my time on werwolf stuffs

  • @xunique1313 how can it be about a werewolf when it describes him wearing a hat, every lyric describes a vampire

  • @xunique1313 Since Sting said it was inspired by Anne Rice's book "Interview With A Vampire," you're pretty much wrong about that werewolf thing.

  • @xunique1313 does the " no i can never show my face at noon" tell you anythin'?

  • @xunique1313 doesnt have anything to do with vampire"hype", sting himself said it's about anne rice's book...

  • Mobile Audit Club invites you to Google search us and we have listed this link on Quatrains 12 page. Hunger in New Orleans and the moon and all. Some one took the moon pie.

Mobile Audit Club,,,,,stop forced injections by the dictators in power in this wretched prison nation. New Orleans the citadel of the infidel Papillion de Eureka

  • This is Music!

  • vampire music!!! perfect

  • love that blue note

  • This song was inspired by Anne Rice's novel "Interview with the Vampire."

  • DOES ANYBODY THINK OF ''IT'S PROBABLY'' ME WHILE LISTENING TO THIS..?EQUALLY PERFECT IN MY OPINION....

  • stupid good

  • iLike.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=g1taSCC8D1k listen to this version.... you'll love it!

  • Amazing song!

  • What the f... happened??? When I heard this song (this link) earlier it was NOT sting singing it.. Think the guy I heard actually did it better, so I bookmarked it. BUT now it is Sting himself singing it (the same way he's been doing for decades). The other guy's accent made it much more authentic.. maybe a Transylvanian accent?? And his "When I pray to God above..." was done by a classically trained singer.. not just someone who was born with a girls pitch.

  • AMAZING!!!! MY SONG!

  • zaiste zajebiste

  • youtube.com/watch?v=JSqt57Rvcfs

He SINGS IT BETTER THAN STING!!

  • Beautiful song, I love it!!!

  • One of my favorite songs from that album. Nice upload, thanks.

  • 22 Ιουλίου 2011 :The first day of the rest of our lives...One magical night spent with some magical songs around with some people full of magic....

  • good video, congratulations.

  • Awesome!

  • haunting

  • I was watching a Japanese program called "Love To Love" and they played this song at the end of each episode.

  • I feel like a retard because I'm a massive fan of The Vampire Chronicles and I heard this song on the radio and failed to notice it was a direct reference to Louis...

  • Sting would have made a better Lestat that that tool tom cruise!

  • 東京上空のおぼろ月がきれいなう

  • not heard this song for years (since someone stole my cd!!!). nice presentation, and thanks for uploading. :)

  • The outcast song

  • Sting is the most misunderstood simple genius.

  • i'm sure that the music of this times won't have 114,172 views in 26 years. but 6 people haven't got the same opinion.

  • gia sena...

  • This song was inspired by Anne Rice's novel "The Vampire Lestat" and I was sorely disappointed in the choosing of Tom Cruise for the part- the producers obviously had not read the novel or he would have been chosen...

  • @TheNoturmomma The book is called "Interview with the Vampire", not "The Vampire Lestat".

  • @striva The Vampire Lestat covered Lestat's life in France and his turning by Magnus before he arrived in New Orleans and met Louis. I know because I read it...and I have a bad habit of reading the liner notes as well

  • @striva Anne wrote 10 books and together they are Vampire Chronicles and one of them is "Interview with the vampire" but this song was inspired by "The vampire Lestat", another book of The Chronicles, but it doesn't have movie like Interview...

  • @TheNoturmomma i always thought it was more about louis than lestat. and tom cruise was horrible, as was brad pitt. when anne rice wrote the novel, i think she had rutger hauer in mind. my favorite was actually 'tales of the body theif'. i kind of thought that one was underrated.

  • i prefer cornelius mix.

  • "The brim of my hat hides the eye of beast"

  • I'm still mourning the death last Sunday of my favourite vampire (John Mitchell) - " I was trapped in this life like an innocent lamb"

  • well done. Wouldn't have known the diference if Sting's producers had done the same thing.

  • eternal song great video..thanks for posting Laurece

  • Great song! It seems so real

  • gr8 vid hope for more

  • Youll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet...

  • I have loved this song since I was very small. Those flutes where so mysterious and it had something incredibly sad in it even though I couldn't understand the lyrics.

  • Wonderful *.*

  • Beautifully done, but not good enough. I've done one using scenes from Interview. But can't put it on due to copyright issues. Mine is better. The way a video should be!!!

  • Beautifully done...but not good enough. I've done one with scenes from Interview. MUCH BETTER but not able to put on site due to copyright issues.

  • I think it was inspired by the book The interview with the vampire by Anne Rice.

  • @ppoolleeyy Yes, it was. Says so right in the liner notes for The Dream Of The Blue Turtles.

  • Nice!

  • Love brilliantty thank you ...

  • i'd forgotten how much i love this song

  • not only about vampires, its about lost love you ignorant fools

  • @ingeberck well, louis lost monique

  • Love It! I just can't stop swaying to this.........

  • Great song. So this is atragic story, the guy becomes some kind of a monster every time the moon comes out -over Bourbon street- and does things he doesn't really want to do and he fights with himself. Brilliantly told, a really nice and tragic story told by music. Love it.!

  • the slideshow is just great

  • Excellent video work for the song! It suits the song so well, in my opinion.

  • genialna piosenka! zakochałam się w niej od pierwszego usłyszenia.

  • if the moon was over my street... please bite me sting... lol... love this.. have loved him pretty much all of my life... 27 of my 36 years... beautiful..

  • genial... i`love sting

  • Great song, but very dramatic.

  • GREAT SONG...NICE VID

  • Hey....this is pretty darn good. good use of images without moving video.

  • That's right I knew it was a vampire song just from thelyrics..Love Sting!

  • thanx for the upload. great song

  • Lol I never really reconized it as a vampire song. A werewolf song, yes

  • Would you believe that I listened to this song on the radio for years and never really listened to the lyrics? One day I was going along and I guess that day I was paying attention and I remember I blurted out "This is a Vampire song!" hahaha

But this song really predates my interest in Vampires, so I guess it never really meant anything to me before then.

  • heck a song is no longer the writers as soon as you hear it. I guess i was just being snobish, but in the album notes Sting credits Anne Rice's reluctant vampire Louis as who he is singing about. But whatever the next listener thinks is just as right i guess. lol

  • ok folks this song is about a vampire. He found his muse in anne rice's INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE book. check the liner notes from his CD.

  • @txsbrtndr . It seems it is a song about warewolfs, but it can also be seen as a song about alcholism...

  • @Sildgutt heck a song is no longer the writers as soon as you hear it. I guess i was just being snobish, but in the album notes Sting credits Anne Rice's reluctant vampire Louis as who he is singing about. But whatever the next listener thinks is just as right i guess. lol

  • i love this song. and what a beautiful voice Sting has

  • Im live in N. orleans an i. Love bourbon street its fantastic

  • This song is about being a werewolf ^_^ At 3:53, turn your volume way up and listen... You'll hear a wolf howling (: Awesomesauce

  • No, this is DEFINITELY based on Interview With the Vampire, a brilliant book. Sting has said so, and you can check on the CD notes.

  • @holybobstaff123

or check inner LP sleeve if CDs weren't as common :)

  • I have stood many times outside her window at night

To struggle with my instinct in the pale moon light

How could I be this way when I pray to God above

I must love what I destroy and destroy the thing I love

Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet

While there's a moon over Bourbon Street

  • The guy's back is too fat, cud b a stalker!

Jocking... Great job, man, keep going!

  • Evocative video. Great job

  • this song would have fit in well with the soundtrack from "an American Werewolf in London" sting is a genius, writes such awesome tunes, wish i could

  • Gr8 video work. Best imaginable presentation of this Masterpiece of Sting.

"The brim of my hat, hides the eyes of the beast", beautiful done!

  • @brando74 I agree completely but Sting's masterpiece is based quite a bit on Anne Rice's book!

  • Brilliantly made.. Thank you xx

  • Well Done! Kudos
