No, he used the sprite that is from the game. Missingno. is either a ghost, pixel L, or skeleton (Aerodactyl/Kabutops.)

Missingno.s don't destroy your game, unless it's Pokemon Yellow, and unless you named your MISSINGNO. to something else, like Rover or something. This is a handy thing to keep in mind when capturing glitches! I knew a person that caught three Missingno. without incident, and he named them all. The fourth one he caught he didn't name,and soon bye bye game.

Though that is ironic, PIKACHU turning into a Pikachu. xD

actually you can catch it and it doesnt mess up your game. even if some graphics are changed you can still play the game. i have even seen it on a video where the guy catches missingno and he saves his game and nothing happens. thats an old rumor.

Sometimes the game gets confused when various things happen, because it is glitched out the wazoo, but Missingno. itself is just a normal pokemon.

Catch Missingno. on red or blue. Thats the safest way. Yellow is more malicious, as is 'M and some others on both red and blue, but Missingno. is just a normal pokemon... as normal as being #000 with two water guns can be.
