I have a question I hope you'll answer: Does the liquid polymer clay bond the unbaked clay to the metal? Could the baked clay piece drop out of the metal over time?

Yes, the liquid pc bonds well to the metal, you should put enough liquid to ensure it is well bonded. I would prefer adding resin on the entire piece to secure it more, but my dear sister wanted it matt and not shiny :) I hope I placed enough liquid to secure it in place!
