Nice idea but i think it would look kinda better if the gold was just stained on the wood and not a solid colour. The black would then be thin layers on the edge.
@MaidenFan24568 I just re-did this guitar again. I used some stain and then some high quality black spray for the sunburst... and then some good polyurethane to clear coat it like 5-6 times. I put new pickups and electronics in it and new pickguard. it looks awesome now. I have a new video of it showing it.
i heard that Krylon changed there formula and now it cracks and never fully cures, that could also be what happened, but ktm-9 is a waterbased clearcoat and shines up really nice and drys and cures fast so if anybodys thinking of a new paint job, that's a good lacquer
The best quality of a true master is to fuck up and then go: "That's what I was going for". LOL )))))))))) Just kidding! Great job. Keep on keepin' on!
I sent you a message about it. I actually like the white pickguard next to the sunburst... It ended up looking a lot better when it was all put together.
if you go to my youtube channel and look at any of my guitar gear videos (not the dod one) you can see the final product. It actually sounds 100% better than it did because I resoldered a lot of stuff inside. of course youtube makes it sound worse than it actually does.
hey dude..i painted my guitar too..but i couldnt get it to be all shiny like urs...how did u make it so ur guitar is shiny and u can see ur reflection in it??? just 4 the next time i paint a guitar
I used 5 coats of polyurethane on top of two paint coats. make sure you use extremely fine sand paper and sand between each coat of poly to take out the "orange peel" feel. after you finish with the poly, you need to get a thing of paste wax and buff out 2-3 coats of that. then it will be REALLY shiny. make sure you buff it out REALLY WELL.

Hey thats cool i dont know why but somehow i like it... have u try to paint the neck ? like mapple color style?

white pickguard looks odd on that paint job. haha first comment!
and 5 star rating cuz u sound like a nice person and i liked the paint job.
really you should considering repainting the pick guard to some sort of gold or so, or maybe just matching it exactly with the guitar body
overall nice job.
can you please send me a message on youtube just explaining how u did it? :D
thanks
