Wow. Lovely. Brought tears to my eyes. I had no idea how lovely Swedish language is. When I was little, we learned about Saint Lucy in school in the US and we ate the sweet rolls. They were so good but I doubt they are as good as they must be in Sweden. This is so going in my favs.
I took a try at a translation for you. The lyrics are highly idiomatic and seem to be about halfway between Swedish and Norwegian, so a literal translation doesn't make a lot of sense. I've done the best I can to convey the sentiments of loss, longing and hope that the song leaves me with. Mind, its been many years since I lived in Swedish and I wasn't that fluent even then, so I'm sure that others here can do a better rendering if they will. :-)
