Wildfires are a problem, and to what I think we need to build more biomass power plants. While keeping forests clean we use the biomass in a "controlled wildfire" that we exploit to generate electricity. The CO2 balance is not affected because if we didn't do nothing the CO2 would be pumped into the atmosphere anyway with an uncontrolled wildfire, and we wouldn't have gained nothing from that...

But surely there are many people interested in putting stupid taxes in play, that will only penalize the general public who are forced to live in this carbon economy with no choice given. Anyway we need to move out of oil... he it a finite resource and we're rapidly running out of it, we're killing innocents with stupid wars, just because of it. We have to move away from our current unsustainable model, that I think we both agree, no?

@T0B0KKE I don't see what is so hard to understand...CO2 traps heat & the more CO2 we put in the atmosphere the warmer the planet will get! For the past 3 million years CO2 has not been above 280ppm...And does not drop below 180ppm in Ice Age. Now we have driven CO2 levels to 390ppm & rising at a more rapid pace every year! We either put a tax on carbon to slow its use or the climate destroys our economy for us. Maybe folks don't want to except this reality but the SCIENCE is CLEAR!

@Viracocha711 Yeah go put tax on CO2 and everything... So the average joe gets the burden of higher prices in pretty much everything he consumes. Taxation is not the answer. Cap & Trade has failed in reducing CO2 emissions in every possible aspect. Either you present me another way to tax those who don't care about the environment without harming the people, or you are just another money grabber like all the politicians and technocrats out there.

@T0B0KKE You are missing the entire point! Either we begin to bring in a tax on carbon to begin reducing co2 or the environment will do far more harm to the avg Joe than any tax! Places where the Carbon Tax has been put into action it has worked wonderfully! Here is what you might know the revenue from the tax is returned to the people, the avg Joes, in the form of tax credits &/or even direct payments to help offset the rise in energy cost. It is either that or we do nothing.
