I honestly don't get why people dislike videos. The one's who make 'em put in a lot of effort into making it as good as possible for the audience. Don't like it? That's your personal problem, not David's. The title is pretty self explanatory, so why do people even go here in the first place if they know they're not gonna like it. Why are people hating on this video? Read the title! It says "video transitions demo real" If you didn't like what the title sounded like, then why watch it and then complain? I for one really liked it, It was relaxing and showed off the transitions! Which makes me want it more! lol. It's not like the video title was mis leading so i don't see why you're complaining. And switching between only 2 frames is smart, so you don't get confused, what you're trying to concentrate on is the transition!

i think Apple should come out with 2 of the same products with way different features and name one "Final Cut X" for consumers that dont add as much effects and transitions this is basically just a lowered down more featured version of iMovie 11, and the other "Final Cut Pro X" for the more professional/Indie/hollywood editors out there... or just make updates to Final Cut Pro 7 come out with FCP 8 or something and add the no render feature and just it and leave it at that!!

That was a cool video, although somewhat creepy. The one problem that I have with flashy transitions like this, is that they are unprofessional. I have been using less and less transitions like this because they can just get annoying. It looks almost in way, too flashy. I know that this was just an example video showing what it could do, so no hate intended. Great video!

@cateye27 Oh, I agree. I will very rarely use any of these transitions. At least they're all there, though. You never know what kind of project may require a certain transition. After all, the client gets what they ask for.

@vanhakaveri There is, they're just used in the right place so it doesn't stand out as looking cheesy and crap. Also it depends what kind of film/TV show it is. You'd see more of these kind of transitions in things like comedies and sketch shows and so on. It's all down to context and what's right for the scene at hand.

A lot of us have been following David for years, some from the start, and he's always done these kind of videos to show off some of the new things he's gotten. It says in the title very clearly what this is, so you didn't have to watch it. @thecreativeone Of course I can't guarantee it, I just think that the only transition I've ever seen in a movie, TV show, commercial etc. is the cross dissolve unless I'm watching Star Wars. I'm not hating on the Application as a whole or this video, I feel like if you have an urge to use those transitions, you should stick to iMovie because you're not editing anything for professional use. You do YouTube as a source of income and I've never seen a transition like these in any of your videos.

@thecreativeone I'd like to say that I love Apple but I think they put too many "con"sumer features in FCP X, and this does truly look like upgraded iMove. I'm a little into video editing and I got to know FCP 7 well but I can tell you I know as a fact 3/4 of those transitions are iMovie style and are for people who want to make a creative video. Some of those transitions are pro-grade, such as the fades and ripples, but no fancy shmancy. FCP 7 seemed to offer a lot more pro features thats all

@johncostatv There's plenty of tacky looking transitions in pretty much every video editing software, even Avid and the previous version of FCP. Premiere Pro is full of mega tacky transitions. The point really is that these are STARTING blocks. You customise them to fit the situation of the shot. There's plenty of professionals who use these kind of transitions, because for the situation it's used in, it's perfect. It's all about context.
