to settle the argument!!! i have a zxr400 and am RIDING it, im 17 years old, passed my motorcycle test but am restricted to a bike with 33bhp so i have bought a restrictor kit for the bike, when im 19 and my 2 years restriction is over i willk then have an un-restricted license...there...not so hard was it
I wouldn't recommend a 400 of this sort for a seventeen year old. Plenty of power to get into trouble, and insurance would be a killer and so would maintenance costs (tyres, chains, servicing etc). I would wait until over 21, hopefully insurance would be a lot cheaper. As for getting a ZX9R at seventeen, hate to say this, but no insurance company would probably insure you. When I was 23, someone said I should buy an R6, and then was told by and insurance official I wouldn't be insured on it.
nope, you can do your (half) full test at 17 which allows you to have a 33bhp restriction untill 2 years on :D the 12bhp is just for your cbt when you turn 17
Thumper is right, you can only ride upto a 125 but with a maximum of 15bhp when you're 17. You can take the restricted test when you're 19 because you cant ride a big bore bike unrestricted until you're 21!

hmm thats roughly 130mph.... i have had 153MPH out of my ZXR and a friend who recently brought a GSXR 400 has had 145mph or 232.
