The last time I was there in 1965. I used to dig clams on the beach in low tides. The tile game for "white arrow" chewing gum was a must and also a similar game for the "lucky Strike" cigarettes, remember that!

the very last time i went to lai yuen was in 1968 when i was 8. and now i am 51 years old

After just 40 years everything changed in Lai Chi Kwok. Never mind Mei Fu estate was actually oil storage tanks, right beside Lai Yuen was the beach and we used to go fishing, swimming there. In 1962, I saw spear finishing along Lai Chi Kwok coast line and the guy got a big lobster and big crabs. Even up to 1970's people fishing ells right inside the Mei Fu estate property. Very hard for young people to believe it !!!!!!!!
