I went on this toxic tour, Mr. Ross does critize some of the actions of Hopkins but says that hopkins and the local community has a love-hate relationship. He is a Hopkins employee himself (the tour is sponsored by hopkins) and works with hopkins staff to test toxicity of the area to promote improvement to curropt politicians who dont care about non-vote getting areas. Dont critize him so much, he is trying to do an extradornary thing. You have to see it first hand, that area is so depressed.

The gentleman giving the tour simply doesn't know what he is talking about. I counted 64 major mis-statements of fact in his presentation. First,Johns Hopkins is the largest employer in the region to African-Americans, it certainly not in their interest to get their own employees sick - as he claims. Klean Soils doesn't use dirt to make cement. The oil tank farm off of Boston street was owned by Esso - now Exxon - never Texaco. Please get the facts correct prior committing slander.

The black residents who are being screwed by the removal and tearing down of toxic homes are not the same black employees, there may be some but theres an education and class gap. Even if hopkins did employ a large percentage of the surrounding residents, they wouldnt really keep track or care about the secondary external costs of expanding the bayview campus.
