  • i love the snare buzzing!!!!!!

  • you are the most funky jesus ive ever seen! ;D

  • What size wuhan is that?

  • Jesus plays drums...horray!

  • Reminds me of Keith Carlock and Terry Bozzio.

  • @darthjoey13 wow, if I can remind of you even remotely of those guys then I'm happy :) thanks!

  • I don't think I've ever seen this dude on any lessons here. Is he using ambassadors or emperors on the batters? I'm in love with that Premier set.

PS. Jesus is awesome at drums.

  • This grooves.

  • He is not good at all... Thank u God for Jared Falk!

  • @adamsvensson2 Wow, I can't believe you'd say that--you obviously aren't a drummer. Or, if you are, you're a metal head with no taste in old-school jazz style drumming. His chops are quite good, with poly-rhythm and great fills. Very very solid drummer using a very small jazz-style setup and still rockin' it better than most guys with 6 piece kits...

Sam Heard--you rock man. Very tasty.

  • @russdonruss Thanks for the nice comment, it's funny.. you can never win with the 'forum' crowd, if you have tonnes of chops, they say you have no feel, if you have great feel, they say you have no chops! haha. I just love to play good music, and I think my playing is best appreciated when backing up a song :). If you catch me on a good day I'll play a solo I'm proud of!

    cheers,sam

  • Awesome solo, very musical

  • What are the sizes of the drums?

  • 12 " & 15 " toms, 14 x 5 snare, 20" bass drum

  • What are the sizes of the drums?

  • Who makes this Drum Kit?

  • it's a premier genista birch

  • I've seen many videos of drum solos but this one is awesome. It's SO clean. Those chops are tidy and the grooves are nice!

  • That intro groove got stuck in my head. That is the mark of a great drum solo.

  • Tasty.

  • does someone know which china this is, looks like a wuhan or something ...

  • yep it's a wuhan, I bought it for 18 bucks, then promptly sold my Paiste Rude china!

    sam

  • its so great, you can't compare it to other china types

  • zildjian oriental chinas are great

  • It's nice to see drum kits not so overloaded with a lot of cymbals, and Im not saying is wrong or bad, i just don't like it. I mean you must have a lot of creativity to create nice sounds with a few items like this drummer.

And of course with a lot of cymbals you get a lot of different sounds but IMO it makes things a little easier as for creating a drum solo.

  • Or if you don't have 2 grand sitting there to get all those symbols lol

  • yeah, I've got a bunch of cymbals that don't get used, sometimes I stick another crash up... The China and Crash take turns..

    thanks dooods,

    sam.

  • very fresh and creative, a tasty kind of difference... (: I love it! 5/5 + favourited!

  • hey cheers, thanks!

    sam

  • Really good solo I'm loving it. Glad to see one solo without the Hi-Hat only being used for the first minute or so.

  • heh. I used to play the hats to start every solo. It was because of that Simon Phillips solo on "dancing men", from the burning for buddy cd. So maybe this was a fluke haha! thanks for the nice comment.

    -Sam.

  • moby dick ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ yeeeeeeeaaa

  • wat is the begining song?

  • Thanks! BTW awsome playing, a lot like my own play style:) Premier RULEZ! is it vintage?

  • nope, it's actually an anniversary edition, I think there were 100 different kits and this is one of them..

  • what sizes are the kit?

  • 12 "rack, 15" floor, standard snare, 20" kick, All premier Birch shells

  • Great! Creative, precise and groovy :D

  • Ah, this is music! I could easily listen to this over and over as a mp3. I've probably watched this clip (or at least had it running in the background) over 30 times already.

  • appreciate the nice comment! cheers!

  • freedom

  • i say this solo was all feel not so much for chops or anything just expression feel. nice.

  • the guy somehow looks like jesus on the drums

  • do you know how jesus looked like than?

  • @jonoh248 a young Jesus jajajaja

  • love it. great solo. I think that Premier Kit has so much class as well.

  • you're a douchebag. put up a solo of your own. I need to put a screen in my bathroom and read youtube comments, then it'll be exactly like the bathroom wall at the mall.. haha.

  • that is awesome the second time around to be completely honest

  • looks like some very interesting stuff

  • Great 5 stars.... nice, dynamics & tempo changes, crescendos, groove, breaks, rudiments.... held my interest all the way through. I'm a drummer who gets bored with solos more than a handful or two of measures, unless they are creative and fresh, nice job, enjoyed it.

  • This is real drumming!

  • thanks mate!

  • very irregular, very nice

  • hippie

  • hell yeah!

  • Drumming Jesus

  • could you please not make any out of context references to Jesus? It's kind offensive.

  • they're gonna' do it anyways man, check the other video... pages and pages!!!

  • I know, that doesn't mean it's not offensive

  • man I'm a christian too, but if you can't handle a simple thing like that, don't surf the web!

  • thank you for that highly offensive comment it really enriched my experience while watching this video which has absolutely noting to do with the video

  • Lighten up. If you can't take a simple comment basing the appearance of Sam to Jesus' classical respresentation, then you really shouldnt be allowed out, because its things like that, that start wars. Calm down or don't bother posting, because offense caused to you, is not shared by others, much as a perfect world Christianity would like it to be, it isnt. Sorry buddy.

  • he doesn't look like Jesus to me but ok whatever

  • Don't get me wrong, I don't think he does either. But to the general public, perhaps those not of a Christian background, a guy with middle length hair, a beard and loose baige/brown clothing looks like Jesus. Consider other opinions? Not flaming btw =] I think its great you believe strongly :)

  • thank you for that, (if I sound sarcastic I'm not) =], it's very true that he looks like that to the public. Now that you said that I've realized that arguing with these people is worthless because it won't get me anywhere. Thank you again for taht one

  • for the record, I don't think I look like him either! I don't Jesus was as white and pasty and probably looked more arabic and would be questioned thoroughly before being allowed into the USA!

  • well it would be very hard to look like Jesus. I believe the classical representation is very off. My guess is that he was short, had short hair, was well built, and had a beard. He was a carpenter not a lord of israel ( in the human sense) so he probably was not well groomed. just my thoughts though cause no one actually knows

  • I'm a 14 year old kid from the Chicagoland area who desperately wants to be able to play drums but his parents refuse to buy a set so I settle for rockband and using the one at school when I can. Nothing special. I never knew the translations were wrong but they are similar jobs so it's not surprising.

Sorry when I said the solo was boring, a lot of solos are like that I was really tired at the time you are an incredible drummer I hope to try to be like you whenever I get the chance to play

  • Hey man, I only got my drums at same age. I used an old snare drum and a triangle! haha. get a practice pad and play to music, no need for apologizing, I don't care either way what people say as long as they enjoy it, if they don't, they probably enjoy super sport drumming like virgil donati, which is awesome and inspiring, but ultimately taxes the ears. Go listen to matt chamberlain or Jay Bellerose and try to play like them!

  • thanks for talking to me I can't ever get any real drummer to talk to me this is awesome I have a practice pad but other than that not much, that was a very complex drum solo, I just watched it again and realised it was a lot better than I thought it was. great drumming!!!!!

anyway ya I should use my pad more but I usually don't have the time

  • do you watch sports? That's my favorite practice time, three hours!!

  • which sports? I usually watch baseball, or football, or soccer, I like watching the olympics too especially swimming, (I am also a swimmer) I do a lot of stuff. Drumming is my favorite though even though I don't do it a lot. It's awesome because every time I sit behind a set it all just feels right. Does that ever happen to you?

  • all the time man!

  • I wish I could do it more often. I saw a 5-piece with cymbals included on Craig's list the other day for $125 but it was gone the next time I checked. I'm still trying to work up the money.

    I sent you a friend request I think but I can't remember

  • are you Sam Heard?

  • No problem at all matey. Stop being such a fucking bible basher!

  • He was nailed to the cross for your sins, and he came back on the third day with great drum chops!

  • cool vid

  • I used an OLD wuhan that day. Used it for some rough, fast decay sounds for the play-alongs..

  • what china is that?

  • Comment removed

  • removed so it doesnt seem like sponsorship?

  • middle was kinda rough cut... alot of cool concepts but rough... but the end was incredible

  • fino a 2 minuti bello!

  • Nice one. I think this is a solo to show soem of the more lesser known things you can do with a kit. I really like the way he plays the china and the floor tom at the same time. I didn't think it would work but now I know it does, I'll try it.

  • no offence. but u shud go with music

  • whatever guys, this is a great solo. It weaves through a few different styles and show some good chops and feel. This guys other video also shows that he's an awesome musician! five stars!

  • I just love the part at 0:16 - 0:20

  • why do most drummers remove the felts and nuts from their stands?

  • because it lets the cymbal breath more....

    I do so as well

  • It is also because of ease when breaking down the kit. If your not a heavy hitter and your cymbals are not likely to fly of the stands why bother with them?

  • i love it...especially the end...great job...^^

  • i feel indifferent about this....some is great, but other parts I don't like.

  • hes a good drummer but the whole thing was just a mashup of different techniques that didnt fit together and had no soul

  • good drummer

  • It's good to see some unique drumming.

  • sorry man but i just didnt get it....

  • I like it, f"cking sick style. good work!

  • Sorry man..you got techniques..but no soul...try to feel the music you play..

  • sorry man, i cant feel it....

  • sorry icannot feel it

  • very cool. love to see drummers take a minimal size kit and make it sound so large. very classy kit

  • fast has a glass breaking kind of sound, w/ quick decay. the sound dissipates quickly. dry has a darker warmer more sustaining sound

  • i'm hate this kind of music but i love this

  • The sustain of it, the time the sound fades after a hit, fast and dry is the same, a quick not much reverbering cymbal, dark and heavy will be the opposite in drummer's vocabulary.

  • I need a drier cymbal.

  • Comment removed

  • the last part was good though

  • no offense cause this guy is very good but this is one of the most boring drum solos I've ever heard

  • Wuhan Chinas always sound great. I also like the tom sound.

  • awesome!

  • really great

  • I love the china when he first hits it but the decay frickin sucks

  • 2:16 thats my favorite style

  • Give Benny Greb a listen... should be your perfect style :D

  • yea, pretty sick, my problem is i suck at ghost noteing lol

  • yeah! me too :P

  • Doesent your legs start to hurt after a while i learned that after hours of rock band XD

  • rock band drum from real drum are very diffrent.......when i play rock band my lag hurts after 2 hr's but with my real drums it dosent hurts

  • Me too man, I'm not even sure why, plus I can play Painkiller in real life but RB2 I fail it like 20 seconds in...Jimboni

  • i would need a real drum set like someguy to past painkiller lmao

  • lol beleve it or not its alot easier than rock band

  • Well done!

    Thank you for the vid.

  • Exelente, tome cosas de tu stilo, me gusta tu tecnica

  • finally a good solo from these people.

They were starting to look like expert village to me.
