@adamsvensson2 Wow, I can't believe you'd say that--you obviously aren't a drummer. Or, if you are, you're a metal head with no taste in old-school jazz style drumming. His chops are quite good, with poly-rhythm and great fills. Very very solid drummer using a very small jazz-style setup and still rockin' it better than most guys with 6 piece kits...
@russdonruss Thanks for the nice comment, it's funny.. you can never win with the 'forum' crowd, if you have tonnes of chops, they say you have no feel, if you have great feel, they say you have no chops! haha. I just love to play good music, and I think my playing is best appreciated when backing up a song :). If you catch me on a good day I'll play a solo I'm proud of!
It's nice to see drum kits not so overloaded with a lot of cymbals, and Im not saying is wrong or bad, i just don't like it. I mean you must have a lot of creativity to create nice sounds with a few items like this drummer.
And of course with a lot of cymbals you get a lot of different sounds but IMO it makes things a little easier as for creating a drum solo.
heh. I used to play the hats to start every solo. It was because of that Simon Phillips solo on "dancing men", from the burning for buddy cd. So maybe this was a fluke haha! thanks for the nice comment.
Ah, this is music! I could easily listen to this over and over as a mp3. I've probably watched this clip (or at least had it running in the background) over 30 times already.
you're a douchebag. put up a solo of your own. I need to put a screen in my bathroom and read youtube comments, then it'll be exactly like the bathroom wall at the mall.. haha.
Great 5 stars.... nice, dynamics & tempo changes, crescendos, groove, breaks, rudiments.... held my interest all the way through. I'm a drummer who gets bored with solos more than a handful or two of measures, unless they are creative and fresh, nice job, enjoyed it.
thank you for that highly offensive comment it really enriched my experience while watching this video which has absolutely noting to do with the video
Lighten up. If you can't take a simple comment basing the appearance of Sam to Jesus' classical respresentation, then you really shouldnt be allowed out, because its things like that, that start wars. Calm down or don't bother posting, because offense caused to you, is not shared by others, much as a perfect world Christianity would like it to be, it isnt. Sorry buddy.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think he does either. But to the general public, perhaps those not of a Christian background, a guy with middle length hair, a beard and loose baige/brown clothing looks like Jesus. Consider other opinions? Not flaming btw =] I think its great you believe strongly :)
thank you for that, (if I sound sarcastic I'm not) =], it's very true that he looks like that to the public. Now that you said that I've realized that arguing with these people is worthless because it won't get me anywhere. Thank you again for taht one
for the record, I don't think I look like him either! I don't Jesus was as white and pasty and probably looked more arabic and would be questioned thoroughly before being allowed into the USA!
well it would be very hard to look like Jesus. I believe the classical representation is very off. My guess is that he was short, had short hair, was well built, and had a beard. He was a carpenter not a lord of israel ( in the human sense) so he probably was not well groomed. just my thoughts though cause no one actually knows
I'm a 14 year old kid from the Chicagoland area who desperately wants to be able to play drums but his parents refuse to buy a set so I settle for rockband and using the one at school when I can. Nothing special. I never knew the translations were wrong but they are similar jobs so it's not surprising.
Sorry when I said the solo was boring, a lot of solos are like that I was really tired at the time you are an incredible drummer I hope to try to be like you whenever I get the chance to play
Hey man, I only got my drums at same age. I used an old snare drum and a triangle! haha. get a practice pad and play to music, no need for apologizing, I don't care either way what people say as long as they enjoy it, if they don't, they probably enjoy super sport drumming like virgil donati, which is awesome and inspiring, but ultimately taxes the ears. Go listen to matt chamberlain or Jay Bellerose and try to play like them!
thanks for talking to me I can't ever get any real drummer to talk to me this is awesome I have a practice pad but other than that not much, that was a very complex drum solo, I just watched it again and realised it was a lot better than I thought it was. great drumming!!!!!
anyway ya I should use my pad more but I usually don't have the time
which sports? I usually watch baseball, or football, or soccer, I like watching the olympics too especially swimming, (I am also a swimmer) I do a lot of stuff. Drumming is my favorite though even though I don't do it a lot. It's awesome because every time I sit behind a set it all just feels right. Does that ever happen to you?
I wish I could do it more often. I saw a 5-piece with cymbals included on Craig's list the other day for $125 but it was gone the next time I checked. I'm still trying to work up the money.
I sent you a friend request I think but I can't remember
Nice one. I think this is a solo to show soem of the more lesser known things you can do with a kit. I really like the way he plays the china and the floor tom at the same time. I didn't think it would work but now I know it does, I'll try it.
whatever guys, this is a great solo. It weaves through a few different styles and show some good chops and feel. This guys other video also shows that he's an awesome musician! five stars!
It is also because of ease when breaking down the kit. If your not a heavy hitter and your cymbals are not likely to fly of the stands why bother with them?
The sustain of it, the time the sound fades after a hit, fast and dry is the same, a quick not much reverbering cymbal, dark and heavy will be the opposite in drummer's vocabulary.
i love the snare buzzing!!!!!!
