What I really enjoy about these films are how they seem to focus on these lonely people with a fixation on an ideal (fish, george washington, popularity) and how they try to join in on something bigger and break out of their lonely habits. They are all so simple and may not have these huge climaxes as in most films but it is something I can easily relate too and I feel a lot of others can. Just taking that first step to break into something bigger can be quite an accomplishment.
This film is very unrealistic. I have plenty of friends that live in the Harbor City Red Shore, Maine, and they do not even closely resemble the eccentric ways of this young fish lover here. From birth, they are taught to respect and honor fish as spiritual beings, and to catch them is a delicate practice of the most elegant moves. This film angers me, as it seems too artsy to be enthralling, and also makes fun of fish in the way that the main character is supposed to be laughed at ...
Oh man that's totally a 400 Blows shoutout ending. All these gay fish comments are really lame. Yes I know the episode was incredible, but it has nothing to do with this so what's the point.
this film gives me hope.
