It must be an odd turn of events for a bird that makes everything in its path scatter, to look out amongst people and wonder "why aren't they running away?" If an animal can have dignity, zoos certainly can do nothing to preserve it.

Mexico, Central America, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia, especially in the Amazon, en were common throughout Brazil, the Atlantic population is in decline, but its occurrence is higher in the Amazon.

it shows no fear of humans. when i was in the zoo with my five-year-old son, i looked at him like he was prey...strange feeling!

The Harpy isn't Brazilian. It's Central and South American. There are more in Venezuela and Panama than in Brazil.
