Look, you have some major tools. You have a strong headtone and good presence, not to mention being a very good guitar player.
But you also have to do material that is right for your voice and vocal approach. This isn't it. You really didn't have anything to say in your rendering of this tune. Just liking a song isn't enough.
Also, if you can, sing closer to the mic. Part of the problem with distance is that some of the contours of your voice can get lost in the reverberance of the room..
