I felt that it should be added that the band shouldn't be blamed for the crowd being lazy! Kyo was a contortionists. I however was moving as much as I could. I can say that people got in trouble at the last show in philly they played for being to "energetic". Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself(rodger) and I hope you have more fun at the nxt concert you go to.
awesome show, great crowd and a fun time! This was my second time seeing them and I was so happy everyone was considerate! Last time a guy tried to punch me even though I wasn't in the mosh area. This was a very good experience. Rodger is also a very pleasent person to chat with.
@lisaluxury94 More than likely it was the type of venue...and sometimes bands just pick the worst songs to play. But Nothing is wrong with Roger..Roger is just giving his own opinion of the concert from what he saw. We all have different opinions and views of the show..I personally have never been to a dir en grey show but i've been to other concerts so I understand where Roger is coming from. Don't give him a hard time just because his opinions differs from you. This goes to all rude commenters
Your a shitty fan :( dir en grey wasn't always heavy and shit. Fuck off. Die is a great guy along with everyone else. Fuck you they are not grind core and get out of here with your shitty cannibal corpse look. Dir en grey is not "grind core"
I was there at that concert and I somewhat disagree with you. Yes, it was a little slow at first. I was on the right side of the stage and by the second song, they had a mosh pit going for the duration of the show. Also, the members did reach out and interact with the audience bc die extended himself multiple times to be touched or his hair ruffled. Plus they had everyone amped at the end bc everyone was yelling encore.
I'm sorry you didn't have fun Roger. I've seen them seven times now and they are my favorite band but there have been shows where I've felt a little disappointed at the energy level. I saw them in Chicago this year and we rocked the hell out. It was really great. I spent $250 on that trip and it was well worth it. I gotta say though I love you for your honesty. It can't be easy to be that honest when you know the fan girls will come at you with the claws out.
Dude in the AnCafe shirt... that's just -asking- to get trolled. And I must be weird, but I kinda like the "slow" stuff, or even just the pre-Withering to Death stuff in general. But then again, I got into them sometime in the early 2K's and yeah, like you, I'm not one of those that wants to hear Cage, or Yokan, or Jessica or whatevz, but Ain't Afraid to Die, Embryo, Mushi, Red [em], Drain Away, Gyakujou Tannou Keloid Milk, Marmalade Chainsaw or Filth would've been like the planets aligning.
@pleasedontkeelme - I mean, when they played Shokubeni in PDX last year, that was like "OMFG, I can't believe I'm actually witnessing this!" It's not often they dig something from outta their back catalog, and typically they only play "surprise" songs in one or a few city and that's it, or in this case, they play AATD in most of Europe and then don't carry it over to The States, probably cause they didn't feel like treating ppl to it if they were just gunna talk and laugh and yell dumb shit.
I agree with you completely. In Houston, the audience was horrible. I was not a fan of the huge middle portion of the setlist where all they played was slow, BORING stuff. Die and Kaoru didn't move at all, Toshiya bounced around but only a little, Shinya was okay, but was too far back for anything really, and Kyo was just always in his own little world. Granted, some of the things he did during the slow stuff were creepily cool, I was expecting more energy. I was prepared to go nuts, but alas...
I got the completely opposite impression of the band in Atlanta. Peopele were moshing and both the band and crowd were enegetic from the beginning til the end. The band members were more interactive than previous shows. Kyo even smiled at the end. It was far from being boring. I don't know what happened in Philadelphia but give them another chance.
Diru 3 times NYC n was awesome but saw them Dec 24th Namba Hatch in Osaka last year n was so disappointed. They were robotic, Kyo no speak to audience AT ALL, Die swung his hair alot, sound incredible lights so dim you could not see them, hometown crowd hair flyin, my daughter n I looked at each other n were like WTF?Did someone hologram them in, where is the Diru we know???? Best part of the night was Encore Ain't Afraid to Die, you could hear a pin drop Kyo cried, left so let down.
Sounds like they bombed pretty hard in terms of seeming like they give a crap. Too bad. They were my first and only concert a good while back when they played in Providence. Had a lot of fun there. This go 'round just sounds like they were hit with a case of apathy.
Thats my boyfriend and I walking by at 2:00! I'm very amazed and loved the concert!!!

The show in SF was the same. Boring as f*ck. Nonetheless, their Chicago and LA was the best out of all of the tour

This is exactly why I refuse to see them now. They're boring, they obviously don't care, and standing in a line to see them is filled with drama.
