With all the attention on SOPA and PIPA over the last couple of days, we stopped both those pieces of legislation. Everyone, please turn your attention to ACTA! This also needs to go!
What do they say in the end: "Stop the ..."? Why is there a squid around the earth reminding of anti-semitic propaganda from Nazi-germany? This weakens an otherwise good video.
The thing that bothers me the most is the ease that corporations can cut people off from the Internet. There doesn't have to be a trial, nor even proof that a person has done anything wrong to be persecuted under the ACTA.
Well I copyright the videos I produce to sell, but it doesn't seem to stop people "sharing" them online. People seem to enjoy taking intellectual property without paying, but do they understand that by doing so they are disrespecting the creators as well as minimising our income? We need to make a living too.
By the way, and I mean no offence but I'm asking because of your spelling, how old are you?
There is certainly a lot of copyright infringement online. There's is also a lot of "fair use" as well.
The fact that copyright holders are allowing YouTube to keep hundreds of thousands of copyright music and TV clips online should demonstrate the fact they are not interested in the average Joe Citizen user. It's the massive file sharing p2p sites and the illegal movie and music trade they are interested in.
And if police suspect you of having stolen goods or drugs in your house, they can go in and search it too. But they only do it in cases where they are pretty certain otherwise it's a waste of everyone's time and money.
"The information is simply being shared free of charge"... usually by people who don't own the information in the first place and don't have the right to share it.
The creators of the information are not being paid for their work.
So you don't like ACTA because it may stop you from "sharing" (copying) files of movies, songs and software via p2p?
And your only argument is that that's "technically" not counterfeiting because a "counterfeit" is a "fraudulent imitation of something else" but the copy is simply a copy.
fuck acta!

Everything designed to harm or take away something from someone has a good side to it to use as an excuse. It's just so morally wrong.
