I hold no degrees in the music world but I am a Lover of The Gospel and of Gospel Music which has been my preference my whole life and I too disagree with "MAJORSJA"
The Lead may have had allot of "Riffs, Runs and All that In Between" but he made the song his instead of trying to mimic Thomas "The Maestro" Whitfield (witch no one can do) and I can appreciate that. He sang that song With His Whole Heart
They did ok But the song Dragged a little. I have sung this song many times under the direction of The Great Dr. Dorgan Needom in Detroit Michigan and Jimmy Jd Dowell.
This is not an easy song for just any sunday morning church choir to do. I think they did a great job. Of course you can't compare anything to the original Thomas Whitfield because he was a prefessional singer who was in a class all by himself . This choir and solist definitely did justice to this song.
Sorry, I knew the original author and singer personally, while this young man did an OK job, Once you have heard Min. Whitfield, you don't want to hear anyone else EVER!!
I do understand Mrsafrolady....it's like hearing someone else sing a song that Aretha or Stevie made popular. Once you get used to that type of quality, and the riffs in their music, the brain has to adjust to hearing something else.
Because of the way the vid is titled...I was looking for Thomas Whitfield or Keith Pringle....but this will do (:
He came to my church too, and did with my whole heart lord i will sing to thee and in the santuary with our choir. but he wrote two original songs which is call with my whole heart but it doesn't sound like this. He's really nice and has beautiful eyes, but he can sing!
The leader is trying way too hard. Too many runs, not enough solid notes, and too much growling. Voice control please! Take your time and sing the song and stop trying to blow. The choir on the other hand did an A+ job!
MajorJa-I strongly disagree with your comment on the runs, personally I think it enhances the song greately, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, thats one of the many things that makes us all unique.
I understand what you are saying. I have been in music a while and have tended to prefer a more classic sound over a lot of rifs and runs when I choose a leader to sing a song with the choir. Rifs and runs are good for solos but when it's done along side a choir, it takes the focus off of the totality of the choir and the music, and puts it on the leader soley.
they sing like that every sunday... rev. nelson is so powerful and talented!!!! i am blessed to be able to enjoy such an amazing choir from week to week...
this song really touches my soul. thanks for being a blessing and because you were a blessing others can truly be blessed.
