i train MT 2 years and all i can say is that training got nothing to help u when u spar so dont look this boy becouse this is so rubbish he look like a begginer.
When you first started muway thai, were you naturally amazing or did you start off really bad?
I started muay thai today and got completely owned by everyone. I don't know whether to continue it or not because i feel like i'm just going to get beaten up each time i go.
@javedb2 Thanks man! It takes a while to get comfortable with everything. My secret is shadow boxing. Hitting pads is fun, but nothing cleans up your technique like shadow boxing - all techniques, elbow, knees, kicks, punches, offense, defense..
@javedb2 did you have fun? i get the shit kicked out of me all the time but i just keep going back im infact off to get tapped out in a bit! have i got the wrong attitude? maybe but oh well i love it and thats the main thing
@Mr95candyman good attitude mate :) i use to be just like that everytime i sparred my body just wanted to freeze up everytime :( now i have been doing it solid for 6 months i absolutely love it, im good at sparring im all round ok Thai Boxer just remember to keep the good spirit and chin down elbows tucked you will be champ one day :D !!!!
Do you guys ever spar? Would be nice to see the footage. Having a hard time visualising all the tutorial stuff done spontaneously with resisting opponents.
this doesnt look like muy thai at all. the strikes and simultaneous counterattacks are a direct take from Krav Maga - the only thing diffrent on this video is a modified KraV Maga / Tactical Fighting stance.
I guess I can't blame the video since Krav Maga "steals" all movements from all martial arts - but this is hardly "old style muy thai"!
@MissionRiddim crav maga stole the moves from a system i created an hour ago and muay boran stole it from crav maga. there are no morals in this world.
This video isn't a GREAT example of it, but I LOVE the Explosive striking and How you change levels/Angles on instinct. If I had a place to stay and could find a job, I'd TOTALLY come out and train with you. I love the Oldschool style that you favor.
@gohanmisticul ive actually been doing muay thai since i was 9 thats about 12 years. I got my black belt in judo and taekwondo when i was 17. 2008 WKA north american amateur Muay Thai champiom. My name is matt ambree. I have a world of more experience than you. Ive even fought in lumpinee. Im from toronto's Siam No 1. I know what works and what doesnt this is shit. Just two fatasses thinking they are doing "old school muay thai" /watch?v=K9D329rJfns <- thats muay thai. Me at lumpinee.
@MartialValor I didnt ask about ur record since I dun realy give a fuck about it...But as u probaibly shold Know Street fighting and Ring fighting are totaly diferent things...And i dun realy know if he does or dosent do any ”old school MT” but some of that stuf worked for me
And anyway ur a featerweight rite?xDBut wich one was u?..Loved the tall guy elbows...
@MartialValor And yeah I bet u have, but in the ring...Wich is a good thing tough...anyway lets stop this thing I preaty much know where its headed to...and Mate Muay Thai its realy a ring Ma...Like most of the MA out there at tis moment...I dont know about its past But im preatty sure about its curent state
@gohanmisticul hahaha, just saw your page. Your calling me new? Go watch anime. Ive seen guys having a stroke that shadow box better then that. Dont even respond.
Nice vid. One of the things that I like to see is that its a real training video, not every technique in a drill is going to be perfect, so showing a non edited video makes it feel so authentic because it reminds me of what i'm doing. :D
@lokallize it's called exhaling! and everyone who practices martial arts uses it.
it's one of the most basic things.
a sidenote for donnie: i am not judgmental but maybe it will be better for your students if you keep it simple. too many combinations at once is making it hard to memorize and execute
hey donnie im a fan of you on here and fb! anw i was just wondering most of your moves depends on all-out offense. do you have any tips for ppl who're more defensive?
meh muay boran is more for show then anything, a lot of these moves wont work in a real fight whether in the ring or street, they are too fancy and complicated, not too mention the guy you are training with is using no resistance at all, so really dont think your practice is really doing much. no offense
Donnie, you have to spar with different fighters because everyone fights different and the more diversity in combat the better. Shadow does help, but you need to get hit also to understand the pain and what to do with it.
@clearcombat - That's something that I tell my students. It's important to train against/with people of different height, weight, body types. Weight classes don't exist in the street. And you wouldn't think it, but the other guy in the video is one of the hardest strikers I've ever trained with.
hey donnie b,my name is joseph and ive watched all your videos and have studied them in any free time i have. They have been very helpful but i noticed that in all your videos that your just somewhat'gently' showing us the moves. Is it possible you make an actual sparing video so we can see all of the moves brought together in a much faster and realistic frame? thanks

seriously this gueeza is a amateur his old muay thai skills aint even working and by the way that isnt even old school hes proberbly watched too much tony jaa films if he was to go head to head with a real old school thai fighter he would get kncked out without knowing it lol.
His style isn't ment to fight agains mauy thai fighters... it's meant to defend yourself on the street. If you actually pay attention to some of his other videos you can tell he knows what he is talking about and that his techniques could be used effectivly.

Love the flow and technique! To me Old school Muay Thai always feels like a little bit of silat with some kali, or just plain Kuntao I should say lol... anywho I love the vids!!! Keep it up!
@JeetTek It was influenced by Indian and Chinese martial arts. Silambam from India influenced Krabi Krabong which is a weapon based martial art in Thailand.
I teach at the Muay Thai Academy International in Santa Clara, CA (near San Jose). You're welcome to visit if you make it to the Bay Area.... btw, thanks....
donnie can you check more the punches and elbows, i mean have more INTENTION, because yo made it too fast, i know that the point its show the drills, but i want to see that too.
Dont knock him through the wall!!!And to youngonesrule a big guys flying knee will hurt a hell of a lot more than a tiny guys. Just as long as the big guy has speed ;D
I think training both sport and street are good, training in the gym wil give you the chance to practice, as well as, work on your timing and speed, I do both, and it works for me, but everyone is different.
I'm becoming a fan Donnie B. The only criticism I have would probably be almost every one of your training partners look like the just walked out of a pizza hut. I'm not saying you need known fighters in your vids, but I think you'd get more hits if you at least had someone that maybe looked like they got off the couch now and then? So say we all
I'm an alumnus of that school, and if I learned anything from there, it's that looks are the most deceptive thing on the planet. It's the guys that don't look like the typical "combat hero" that are the deadliest!
Listen, I'm not saying you gotta be GSP to be considered a good fighter, but no one wants to look at a bunch of overweight guys sweat while showing off thier "deadly" skills.
Shadow is the the cornerstone of you rtraining. It helps your technique, speed, flow, imagination, and most importantly, footwork. It also forces you to throw proper technique. In my experience, working exclusively with partners is dangerous because you can pick up bad habits. so, in a nutshell, BulletProofMk3, I suggest at least 5 rounds of shadowboxing as part of your warm up every time you train. And thx for the kind words.
i love your style .i try to shadow thai boxing throwing elbow strikes , knees ,and pretending to be in a clinch but do you think by not having an actual body/partner i will benefit from just shadowing.i think i will but i want your opinion.thanx
