@MrHooligan7 Well there was a bulgarian population in Kastoria/Kostur. Also the majority of the population of Kilkis/Kukush was bulgarian. But they were forced to leave. In 1923 along side the population exchange you had with Turkey there was a smaller one with Bulgaria. There were greeks in Plovdiv, in Asenovgrad and greeks were the majority in Nesebar and Sozopol. Nowadays there are no greeks there. Those are facts often omitted by bulgarians or greeks alike. Propaganda leads to nothing good.

There was a small exchange of population which was completed with sighning of the agreement Mollov-Kafandaris, somewhere in 1924-5. It aranged the property disputes of both refugees. A few did stay but were forced to leave Greece in 1944. And please dont call them nazis. There was no nazism in Bulgaria. If there was nazism the bulgarian jews would be sent to the gas chambers but they were saved. Any jew knows this.

But...assimilation did not occur as you said, there was some but was not predominated assimilation that occurred with Slav's/Tatar's/Hun's after they pledged a treaty and allegiance with and to Byzantium, some assimilation did occur.
