I'm sure i read something by AFI and i can't remember what it was. it was something like 'its hidden away behind my eyes, where all my messed up thoughts can hide' and i remember it was about the 'mind'. but i can't remember what it was from! I have spent ages trying to find it, and have failed. anyone got any idea what its from??
It's what we loved and lost. We're young and easily thrown to love. This shows how dark we feel during love, because of the twists and turns, the cataclysms during the end of love, and our thoughts and last wishes when it's all over.
I think this is more beautiful and epic than any other written word, ever. I cannot possibly explain how much this poem means to me. I'm dying to have it tattooed on me at some point. It never leaves me.
hey guys i think it would be awesome if you could take 2 minutes of your time and listen to the video on my channel outro(spoken poem) if you liked this because this inspired me to write it and in a way its sort of similair. thank you in advance!
i got sing the sorrow today and didnt realize that this was on it-- it is the most moving part of the cd--so full of reason and meaning - i mean 'the last night on the earth' that is so soul-wretching- it is amazing
but im sorry to be the one to point this out, as im sure someone might of already mentioned it.. its not all the same song.. its but home is no where.. followed by this untitled spoken poem and ends with this time imperfect. but great song and awesome upload. thanks :)
my favorite song at one point, my best friend at another. overall, great thing. well done, afi. "but you made me realize that my ticket wasnt good for two, i rode alone." that made me cry the hardest. thats my life. my ticket isnt good for two. so ill die alone.
yea i know what you mean, at jus tthe time I started listening to this album, my gf of 5 years dumped me. This poem, felt like it was just for what I was going through.
its not about the end of the world, its bout the end of his love, which was his world...look at the effin poem! the end of all that he held dear. its beautiful. fuck
theres so many sides of afi, the sad and searious side (but home is nowhere) the dark side (this time imperfect) the funny side (i wanna get a mohawk) and punk afi (the boy who destroyed the world) and the rock afi (miss murder)
i know a few cases of my friends who listened to the actual album, and fell asleep during the space @ the end of the album and this and they either have gotten woken up or scared terribly. strange, i almost feel like AFI intended that sort of thing...i love this poem and look for no deep deep meaning, but the art of the words and how they are spoken makes a beautiful, tragic thing. for me this means giving pathos, euphony, and beauty strangely enough..to death itself, and anything that is to die
The beginning always reminds me of my friend who passed away a few years ago. He use to say when the world falls apart will you hold my hand and it reminds me of our relationships and the ups and downs we had before he passed.
To me, I think it is about the end of the world. You know how no one knows who wrote it? How the members of AFI just fund it? Well I think that's because it was because of the previous life. Like how history repeats itself. Maybe there has been more than one end? Sorry I replied so late, by the way...
@xxpunxroxxx0013 I think that this is the end of the last world and that, through reincarnation, a boy tells about it. He remembers more and more as he gets older. That's my view. not very deep or anything, but it's what I believe it is. :)
@xxpunxroxxx0013 the poem, to mean, personifies the idea of nothingness. imagine having a full life full of joy and love.... then it all washes away. in my opinion, this poem expresses these feelings of the void in life we all fear as humans.
To me, this all seems about hope. They want to believe in something for hope, so they believe in love, but love didn't cut it. As they aged, they became alone. In the end, he puts his belief in god, hoping for him to give him hope. (But they are all different persons. So this was different stages of hope for different ages. The young ones tried love, it holded for long until they died. The middle died because she left him. The old one didn't want love, and became alone)

the begining is supposed to be the poet in a yung boy version, the middle is a regualr man and the end is when he is old
soundvillageismyriva 2 years ago
This makes me happy... I laugh when I hear the boy repeat "suffering".. I dont know why.. I just find it funny.

What does this poem mean to you guys? I was just curious because I've been trying to figure it out bit by bit.
Nothing yet by the way.
xxpunxroxxx0013 3 years ago
Well, I, myself think that it's three stages of a boys life, all three involving love, and all three involving heart break.
I don't really think that's it's about death, per se. But maybe about the relationship dying.
I don't really know. These are just some ideas I thought up. :)
