The reason Demon's Souls and Vagrant Story seem similar is due to the fact that both are inspired by the dark Gothic pulp fantasy artwork and mood of original D&D. Many of Vagrant story's monsters come straight from the original monster manuals. Matsuno is a master with deep respect for the origins. One of my top 5 games of all time I am disappointed that this soundtrack did not make HG101's best game soundtrack at #1 or even on the list. The soundtrack easily surpasses many Hollywood movies.

Not going to lye lately I've started to hate FF 7, 8, 10 after playing Tactics ogre let us cling together and Vagrant Story. I am so sick of stupid ass fan boys putting the those three games as something great when really they were piss poor storytelling and writing and not to mention annoying characters. I just don't understand how matsuno's games don't have a larger following. Poor FF12 to many people hate on that game because of some of the changes it gave towards the series.

FF7 is damn good game but its not the best game ever there where several games before that were much more ground breaking in story telling then ff7 is given credit for. FF 8 and FF10 don't get me started on the over piece's of shit games. Idk my taste have change i really in to gritty dark rpg's like this, FFT, tactics ogre and games like Parasite eve 1,2, demon souls and xenogears.

@kubinskij1 Oh yeah i know both games have artstyles that are very similar to vagrant story and both games are extremely epic. I remember going through the level 2 in demon's souls and thinking how much it reminded me of vagrant story. Hell even the monsters from dark souls and demons souls look like the monsters from vagrant story. I still don't understand why vagrant story doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Why is there no Vagrant Story 2?

It might be quite hard to make a sequel today by gathering the original staff (or even not, but the fans would buy the game almost blindly), but at least worth a shot.

I enjoyed this game really much. As often the difficulty is one thing complained about, actually it is not - just tactical planning. And that ending track just shows the awesomeness of that soundtrack. Epic boss music, catchy dungeon themes are the probably the wet dreams for us VS gamers, eh.

I've heard it rumored that originally there was supposed to be a bit where they join the party and fight with Ashley in a system much like the Snowfly Forest battle with Sydney. The rumors claim it was cut due to time or disc space constraints. I've never gotten any sort of confirmation on that - it could just have been someone's theory on why that picture exists - though the capability is obviously there.

Seriously a sequel has so much potential, Joshua growing up, Neesa and Callo growing from their experiences, the Vagrant finding other wellsprings with their own history and problems, not to mention connections that could be made with the more recent Ivalice Alliance games.

Why does HP and MP are extremely high since the beginning of the game?

Because this was a file from about my third time through the game. My reason for recording this was not to show off my MAD GAMING SKILLZ or anything, but to show the cinematic sequences to people who hadn't been able to get their hands on a copy of the game, or who couldn't get past a particular tough battle. To that end, I used a powered-up save file just to go through it quickly.

I've been through it like five more times since on the same file, and Ashley's even more overpowered. ;)

Square at the peak of its existence. NOTHING has come close since this in terms of quality. This epic credits sequence was the finest example of Square's mastery of musical compositions. Its a shame Final Fantasy XII did not quite meet the same level of expectations on the music department.

Yes... Propably the best non-FF square game, not counting Chrono Trigger and others remakes... SaGa Frontier 2 is also a killer - both graphics/MUSIC!/and story is something rare...

I read once in PSX magazine, when VS come out: "There are two messages for us, players, one, good, is that we get propably the best jRPG of all times on our beloved PSX, the sad is that it will take Squaresoft another 5 years to make games at this level on PS2". So pity they didn't...:(

No it isn't - I've gotten 100% myself. The only difference is that when it tallies up your rank and whatnot, it says 100%. ;)

If you mean that the picture behind the score/rank/etc. changes, that changes every time you beat the game, regardless of how much of the map you've covered.

You know, I first played this game when I was 17. I thought the mechanics were fun and the translation was awesome. Looking back at it now, though, I'm completely blown away. The art and direction are absolutely phenomenal. The storyline and philosophy are adult and cultured. This is an honest, mature piece of art, the like of which rarely seen in gaming. Thank you for posting this credit roll from my all time favorite game. The score for this sequence has been the best that I have heard on any game and it is wonderful to hear it again since my soundtrack was stolen. You ain't never lied. I have been searching for a copy of Vagrant Story ever since. Also I need Final Fantasy VII(cousin destroyed same time as Vagrant Story) again as well. Rebought Chrono Cross, but the 2 other great games are very hard to come by. Another that peaks my interest is "Breath of Fire III or IV" not sure which one.
