I Am a Martial Artist and Swordsman and although I am definitely not a fan of the millitary I truly enjoy your videos and demonstrations Black Man. I can see that you have a pleasant spirit within. Bless and Keep up the good work
i watched your african walking stick video, then your zulu spear video, then this. and its kinda funny cuz your beard got slightly longer in each video!! haha lol
The curvature of the blade is due to differenttial hardening. They put clay on the back side of the blade and so the edge side gets tempered at higher temperature since no clay to protect from the heat. As u remember from physics class metal expands when heated. This is why the blades have a slight curve. This also allows the edge to have a much higher Rc hardness while the spine has a lower hardness thus making the sword somewhat more flexible and less brittle and less prone to breaking.
Came upon your videos (Zulu spear & African walking stick), I must say that you are very informative & entertaining at same time, I subscribed & hope to see more on all different subjects. About this one, that Ko Kat is a blade that I would love to add to my humble collection, what steel is it made of? Keep them coming!
wow i totally agree, im just getting into taijutsu and i didnt like the short handle on the wak so i was given the ko katana, its perfect with the length over all
@LyPatrick Full tang, of course. It's not folded, it's through hardened. If it was DT folded, it would be double or triple the price. Through Hardened makes for great cutting. You just don't get a hamon, etc. But that means crap. I have both though, so I'm not as concerned :-p
I have pics of my custom made katana which I'm hoping to get in a few weeks. Wow it's taken a long time but that's a good thing I suppose. If you want to see them I'll try and send a link or email them to you.
@wiwingti hey i think it looks great. would definitely get one if i didnt have to really watch my money on the blades i get. i have so many through hardened blades its outrageous, so i'm trying to focus a little on differential tempered blades. dont much like the tsuba either but it is custom and thats always nice. hope you sell a lot of em.
Thanks Jonis. Small guy, lol. So how does it handle compared to the DF. Don't mind the lack of sori, straight blades cut just fine for me. I do like the kissake, tip cutting is a fun thing to do in my book, remember the milk jug? Great review, got my pumpkin.
Great review I'm glad to see these comparisons because it actually makes me not want the blade, nothing against wiwingti, I just like my ko kats with sori, cause without sori it's pretty much just a ninjato. great sword regardless...
Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful.... Beautiful x25..... Beautiful!
Damn man, we get it! Its beautiful! Find a different adjective please.

As far as Ko Kats go, certainly a heavy weight cutter but fast and agile. A unique sword; love it.

Beautiful katana. Silver works much better with blue than gold does IMO. I'd buy one of those swords if I didn't live in the UK.
