  • pirate impression...hahah

  • bear spray = seasoning for making people taste better for bears.

  • Kimberly = hottie

  • what is that tool that attaches to the chainsaw called?

-the thing that enables a straight cut

  • Wow, really nice vids. I enjoyed watching them all.

Do they (your two friends) live there permanently?

  • lol.. jorgensen, pronounced yorgensen

  • Lots of fun to watch you two.

  • Great Video, one thing I have to say, I am from Alaska, my Uncle did what you are doing 30 years ago out on the Skwentna, without roads (only plane and boat to move supplies) Only thing an axe and Pepper spay are going to do against a bear is piss them off and make you a whole lotta dead. Do yourself a favor and pick up a .30-06 or a good 12 gauge w/ Slug shells. Alaska is not for the weak or weak @ heart, I applaud what you are doing, but you must be realistic about survival in the bush.

  • @BoyMixer Why do you think killing a bear is the only option? They aren't that aggressive as long as you play it smartly. Shotgun is a quick solution but not very fair for the bear.

  • Hmm, did you help Kimberly do anything else two years ago.

  • Rad video!

  • Dude's having a Rocky Mountain high. Those who don't get excited like this when you're outdoors and doing something like this will never understand.

  • I love your videos man!! Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!

  • you guys homesteading? how do i do it?

  • This is either the beginning of a horror movie or a porn movie.

  • A captivating masterpiece.

  • wow

  • youre a fag. check out dick proenneke. go back to your sheep life. maybe you should get cable tv. i hear fox news is amazing to watch.

  • seems like all of your friends are good looking women

  • best part no waste its all firewood!

  • I envy you your out in the woods in Alaska with 2 beautiful ladies. your now my hero.

  • look, I am the last person to judge the videos of other. Admittedly I am a horrible film-maker and I would certainly never give anyone a less than stellar rating. Unfortunately for me, the title is a bit misleading, I clicked on the vid looking for ideas for foundations for log structures. I appreciate what you are trying to do and hate to sound like a stick in the mud, but this just seems like slap-stick silliness. Still, 5 stars for effort.

  • @karlsefni01 So you actually expected someone on YouTube to teach you something. You get what you pay for, how about a book on foundations? otherwise don't criticize. Making this video was way more work than you put in searching.

  • do you live in Alaska ?

  • Nope. I live in Vermont ....at the moment.

  • I see

  • your videos are better than Discovery tv chanels :)

  • thanks!

  • The bears must be happy. A dinner theater in the area now.

  • Oh... those bears just like to go around giving people hugs. :-)

  • Very inspiring videos, you mentioned in one of the videos that you used two different types of chainsaw mills. What were they and which one was the better of the two?

  • I couldn't tell you brands or anything... but one was the kind that you have to take off to use the chainsaw normally, and the one I like is the one in the videos a lot... I think I explained somewhere in there why. err.... where's my secretary...???

  • I find your video... VERy entertaining... Appreciate you sharing them!!!

  • Thanks! I appreciate you watching them. :-)

  • Great video.

  • Thanks. :-)

  • Kimberly and Jeremy were already out there. They stayed most of the winter too!

  • What the heck is wrong with the comments? There's all these comments about random stuff like my deathtrap like you're responding but then I can't see what you are responding too. ?? Anywayz, good video. Keeping "hangin' in there"!

  • errr... ya. I dunno. Youtube is a little wack sometimes.

  • Bum deal, it says that video 1 is no longer available. Any ideas?

  • aw crap! Well, sometimes that happens then it works 10 minutes later. I'll check it out. I spose i can upolad it again it its busted!

  • Hahaha, styrofoam peanuts!

    Lovely!

  • Can't believe you're not dead.

Why does this look like "Famous last video"?

    You guys are amazing!

  • Its a lot harder than that to kill me!

  • Ya... I sometimes think I need to make a "will" video. ...just incase

  • Hey, your so awesome that you have achived this, being able to be so free! I hope I could be that too but Im restricted from living in the city and having a strict mother. And to young to order things from the internet.

    Love your videos!

    /Pusik

  • Take the excuses and throw them in the garbage. Its not easy to make life what you want it to be. ....but its worth it when you do! So... keep your eyes open for oportunity, and stay strong when fear grips you.

  • hey... i wasn't born in the woods! :-P

  • You sound Scottish when you do a pirate impression!

  • Aren't pirates all scotish?

  • OMG. Icing on the cake indeed.

Don't you fight bears better when your naked???

  • Well, ya, actually. But I saved the nakedness for the next video. I figured it wouldn't be a real trip to Alaska if I didn't come back with some compromising footage.

  • I liked your take on pirates

  • take on pirates? Oh, I dunno if I'd wanna take them on. I hear they fight dirty. ha ha.

ok ok, I know what you said. I'm just making a stupid joke.

  • Around 6:50, how did you attach the flat board to the log? Did you just lay it on there?

  • Oh. nailed on. Thats one reason I don't like that lumber mill attachment that much. You have to be careful with nail lengths.

  • your lumber mill at home works too much better than that chainsaw thingy:) looking forward to more videos!

  • Ya. it was kinda nice to have a portable one, though.

  • Wow I love the van!!!!!

  • You mean the big yellow deathtrap. it handles like a dream. ...that dream being a nightmare! ha ha. Shhh. Don't tell kimberly I said that. OK OK, its not really that bad.

  • Hey Jaimie, That lumber chain saw thingy is the coolest. I pride myself at making jigs to make things, but for a store bought item...very cool. Oh but it's no comparison to your one on wheels.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Ya, I liked the 2nd one. You can leave it on while doing other chainsaw things. :-)

  • i dont like how alaska is treating you so far!

  • Oh, don't worry. It all worked out ok. I'm back home in one piece. Ya, the first couple days were a little rough, but I was still having fun.

  • build a house out of mud cob i saw it done once it was cool.hehehehehe oh and kill the bear!!! make a rug out of him

  • I wanted to make a coat. :-P

  • i once new a guy. when he saw a dead deer on the side of a road he would put it in his truck. take it home and skin it. he built a cabin thats walls wer lined in skins it was pretty cool.

  • No way. Thats pretty cool. Where was this place?

  • georgia he was a old timer. he drove the same car he bought in 1955 i cut fire wood with him. he died last year but he was cool

  • hows the giant robot going?

  • umm.... I'm uhh.... well, if it ever stops raining in Vermont, I'll be able to make some progress! argh!

  • Hey Jaimie, the natives are getting restless! I know you are home at the dome and working on the robot again- Maybe you'd better intersperse videos of that before you finish posting the cabin series. Apparently Alaska adventures pale in comparison to an animated pile of metal :-)

  • Well, maybe if i take my shirt off more, it'll be ok. haa haa. This whole giant robot thing is such a huge project. I'm still wrapping my brain around getting to it. ...and emptying my truck.

  • Put up a "No bears" sign and maybe he'll leave you alone? :-)

  • oh. hmm. I didn't even think of that. Good idea! Well.... I did have a deal where if I killed one with hand weapons, I'd get to keep the skin. :-P

  • Good video. At the end you were looking like a zombie. (:

I am looking forward to seeing how you will you finish this cabin.

I am (more) looking forward to seeing how you will finish your robot.

BTW. Where are you now? I guess you are not able to post these videos directly from the dome... (:

  • He posted things from an internet cafe or a library or something. Great to see you uploading again! Can't wait to see the return of the Giant Robot!

  • ya. Its sort of funny how overwealming the robot and tower/workshop projects are. I got back here and went, "uhh... duh.... what was I thinking???" But thats me. I put myself in these situations because i know I won't quit.

  • I go to the local library or community center at the law school. Both have free wireless. It poured rain all morning so I came here to do some inside stuff.
