More so since Paul Revere put up the money to get Freddy into the studio and record 4 songs, of which "Games People Play" was one. If he was so 'disgusted' why did it take 9 years (1966 to 1975) for him to quit the Raiders, I'm sure there would have been at least one contract renewal in there somewhere....
@GARDNERKSGUY Not quite 9 years...Freddy didn't join until '67, then he was gone by the end of '72 when their record sales started to plummet. But you're right...how come he hung in there even that long? He's just not admitting to enjoying some of that fame and those 'willing young ladies and groupies' :D
Really interesting. The Raiders were a "contract" group and I suppose when Weller signed up he saw it as a big break from a regiional career in the South to the national scene, He was quickly disillusioned and as we hear, disgusted. Now the "legend:" follows him and he';s setting the record straight. Good for him.
The scorecard he mentions kept track of how many chicks the guys fucked - Mark and Fang estimated they deflowered 100 to 150 women during their heyday 1965-1967. Im surprised it wasnt more, actually.
Joe Jr. became a studio drummer in L.A., and a very good jazz drummer. I read he played with Bill Chase before he did the pure music album,Joe also play with Al Jerearu and Hamilton,Joe Frank and Reynolds.
I wanted to see this group with Mark Linsay in 1971 but my folks didn't want me around anyone who might use pot or drink. They came to Rolla Mo. and performed in the multipurpose building on the campus.
Last July Obama came to Rolla. I went to hear his speech and for the first time was in the mulitpurpose building.
I thought of The Raiders the whole time I was there.
@jarofants1 How silly. It was George Bush who had his drivers licence suspended for 30 days because of DWI. No record of it could be found. Oddly enough Bush was behind the .08 law. If Bush had
"smoked pot" it would not have been less dangerous.
January 20 was the 30 anniversary of Regan and 50 of John Kennedy. I think they did the best job that they could do. We could go on and on; but all you have to do is turn on Fox News or CNBC and you can hear both sides 24-7. Peace man.
I recall an association with Joe and farming. That's all I know. I think he went back to farming. It wouldn't be to suprising for a "rock star" of the late sixties to reject the spotlight and go "rural".
Love that song!.

What about the drummer, Joe Corerro Jr ?

Good question. Joe was a great drummer.

@rlittle Joe was one of the best drummers ever! I used to play drums, but he played some fills that I could not figure out at all!
