I love this programme. Remember ToonTown in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" where over the horizon there's clouds of smoke and yelling and squabbling and all sorts of crazy stuff flying around to indicate the utter lunacy of the place? I always think of that when the "people of faith" on this show start bitching about how it's their particular debunked, rambling, inconsistent collection of mysogeny, murder and intolerance that should be used to decide what people are allowed to think, say and eat.

However, when you base this ideal society on a book that, quite frankly, is a nasty piece of work. It is full of bigotry of every type, infanticide, destruction of cities and peoples for not complying. The thing is that if you base a society on any religious text there will always be conflicts in interpretation and this will lead, inevitably to conflict.

What about moral systems prior to bible from sources that did not claim prophecy. What about Cyrus who claimed equality of women and men and freedom of religion, ban of slavery and other modern human right concepts hundreds of years before bible? 1. The Rabbi is a WOMAN, so we can tell already she doesn't take the Bible seriously, its rather silly seeing a woman rabbi, totally silly.
2. The Bible scholar appears to have very shallow knowledge about the Bible (and seems to believe in something like that dreadfully discredited documentary hypothesis). The bishop rightly called her out for just dismissing men like Albright, she has no clue.

@SoldierOfChrist110 By turn the other cheek you must mean enforce your theology into law (ban on same sex marriage, ban any scientific teaching that contradicts your interpretation of the bible, attempt to outlaw atheist associations/clubs, etc.).
If you know anything about islam you'd know that you are to love the non-muslims as well, although just like the christians, there are loopholes when God's laws come into effect (God loves man, but man cannot be gay, kill the gays).

My mother used to tie my hands behind my back at bedtime, my dad gave me a pair of boxing gloves to wear in bed, I slept with my hands over the bedclothes. All this did not work. But the mattress did. And it didn't have a headache or talk back to me. I would highly recommend this mattress to practising Catholics everywhere. It's in the Bible, too, thank God.

Why is it we never hear anything of worth from christians when debating history in the bible? All i seem to hear is excited, flamboyant nonsense. Their arguments are riddled with curiosity`s, downright strange garbage, and obsequious remarks about god and other biblical characters. Very little fact is presented, if any at all, resulting in the religious folks looking like sheepish dullards. What about moral systems prior to bible from sources that did not claim prophecy. What about Cyrus who claimed equality of women and men and freedom of religion, ban of slavery and other modern human right concepts hundreds of years before bible? There is strong historical evidence for it and indeed the first human right charter exists from nearly 1000BC.
