I'll say this, working with this "easy to use" software program made my Tascam 688 (a midi 8 track porta-studio tape recorder from 1989) look like a simple tool instead of the monster I used to think it was.

@BritneyDigitalLive There should be 2 red arrows in that top bar part. One is to mark the start of where you will be recording and one is the end. Idk why you can't drag it, it should let you drag the right arrow to go to the end. I usually zoom out before i do this to make it faster. The section inbetween the arrows should appear darker in the same bar as the arrow. did that help at all?

you will only need the disc if your gonna use the loops and other stuff on the disc but after it's installed you can run the program has long has the device is connected the pro tools will launch with the Device in the usb port

I spent about 8 hours trying to use this product and put it back into the box. It is just far too complicated to comprehend without instructions. That's right, the product lacks any measurable instructions.There is a help section but it is very vague and occasionally just flat out wrong. I've used a Tascam 688 for 20 years and thought to upgrade but this is far more complex with only 1 /100th of an operating manual. It is not compatible with Windows & as it states either.

Pro-Tools only works with Digidesign and M-audio interfaces. If you want an M-audio interface, you need the M-Powered version of Pro-Tools.

it took a lot of cursing and hollering but i figured out protools essentials with the mini m box. if your going to record midi click the track at top of the screen make 4 midi and inst tracks go to mix window and at the top of the ins tracks u will see 3 blank spots select your ins and config the chanell to the midi track and hit rec for the active track i can explain more but im limited on words ......no u cant uses auto tune with this version

I use Sonar 8 Studio with 2 Motu HD192s....I would put that setup against any other....not saying its better...just feasible.  I also work for a studio in town running Protools 8/ HD2....my home setup can do anything the HD2 setup can do. My only complaints are that I wish there was a serious Console Controller for the Sonar8...my second complaint is the monitoring with effects applied...Protools HD wins on both those fronts.
