i was channel surfing and landed on the ovation channel where she was doing this at some jazz festival. the bass intro sucked me in and i was thinking this song sounds familiar but couldn't put my finger on it untill "the poor people sleeping with the shade on the light' oh! awesome version of a favorite steely dan song of mine. thanks for sharing and i have this on my favorite list for revisits.

Joe Jackson sings the harmony on this tune.

He also appeared to do this with Rickie Lee live in Seattle - it's available on Big Island Records. Definitely worth having in your collection. They also do a great cover of One Hand One Heart from West Side Story.

In the history of covers this one swings right into it's own territory, takes over. Says what is what like only Rickie Lee could say. Makes even more sense than the original and with Steely Dan that just never happens, right?
