I would recommend for you because you don't you want fast anti virus product that is not norton than you may want Avira , Avast, Kaspersky, Comodo, bit defender. GDATA is also good but I would only recommend that to you fishinwflies if you have a computer that has 1 GB or more of ram. if you want more options go to one of the youtube channels that i gave you. and find one that you like.

Really Norton boy? The tech that finally got that piece of crap out of my computer told me and I quote "Norton is notorious for leaving a firewall behind. I see it all the time." It was not malware, it was Norton. Which by the way was worse than any malware I ever had. Worse than any virus I ever had. Norton sucks, PERIOD.

@fishinwflies Ok, I looked on the internet about norton leaving the firewall behide. that can happen when you uninstall norton improperly. I learned something new and thats good because now i know that this can happen with nearly all firewall software and not just norton. Thank you. This job you learn something new every day. by the way which version of norton did you use.

@kevmadden8ffx It was uninstalled by THE NORTON UNINSTALLER. So that means Norton can't properly uninstall Norton. So you want us to trust it to keep our computer safe? Norton sucks and that's all there is to it.

@fishinwflies Well there are many ways that a program uninstall process can go wrong sir. ex. the power goes out, problem with your hardware in your PC transmitting data. when you install the program the uninstaller got corrupted, etc. I'm not saying that Norton is the best but i am says it is not the worst which putting it out to be. i have had problems with the AVG, Avira Macfee, and comodo uninstaller and i dont hate them for it. These thing can happen and it happened to you.

It's OK that you don't like norton. I like GDATA, Kaspersky and Comodo myself. You like AVG. you are entitled to your view like everyone. Some here like eset, i don't really like but oh well. Everyone disagrees on what is the best AV Software and will continue unless we have computers that can never get infected. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with norton and you should take you complaints to symantec. You say it suck i say its fine but they should do more for zero day threats.

@fishinwflies what part of I use Comodo Internet security do you not understand. i do not love or hate norton. you brought me into the debate when you called me a "lying jackass". I'm Libertarian. How can i be a "Norton boy" if i love comodo. I think Comodo is the Best. I love its Defense+ and Firewall. I love that it has a sandbox feature for unknown files. I saying Norton is not crap but Comodo is the best. does that sound like i'm paid by norton.

@fishinwflies Things i Hate about norton.1. It never asks you what do you want to do with the virus, what if it is a false positive. you can't stop it from deleting the file.

2.There are no alerts from the firewall ever. when it blocks something bad i would like to know about it.

3.the Anti Spamming is poor. Outlooks is better

4.the Customer support is god awful, they hardly do anything.

norton fine for novices but if you know what u are doing get GDATA, Kaspersky, Comodo because they're better

@imKiOOT I have it on my computer. It does not slow down your computer how ever if you enable early load on it then it will slow down the boot time of your computer. The time that it took to do has been so much better than there other ones in the past. They have finally fix problem of lagging the computers performance.

If you don't belive me then get the 30 day trial of there product and test it for yourself.

@kevmadden8ffx For god sakes don't listen to this lying jackass. Norton sucks bad. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR COMPUTER. It does slow it down but worse, when you try and get that piece of crap out, it can leave a firewall behind locking you off the internet. It did more damage to my computer than any virus I ever had. Getting it out and then repairing all the damage it did, 5 friggin hours later, it is noticably faster. Kev is a lying bastard.

@fishinwflies 1. Every Anti-Virus Product will slow down your computer.

2. Go to av comparatives and go to any of these youtube channels were they test all av products to see how good they are. (languy99, idodo60, rynesandbergfan23, mrizos, Bunyip783)

3. If you want to remove it completely go get the norton removal tool, double check with a registry cleaner and go to the program files folder and program data files folder.

@fishinwflies I use Comodo Internet Security 2011 becuase it has good dection rate and it is great with zero day malware. AVG is one of the worst things you can put on your computer. the only 2 good things i can say about avg is that it is free and it is better than a-square and clam-av. go to malwarebytes, download the free version, install it, update it, restart your computer in safe-mode and do a full scan with it because i think you have malware on your computer right now.

@fishinwflies 4. As a Staples Easytech with an Comptia A+ Certificate I have nor have my co works in their several years never seen or heard a product "locking you off the internet" but malware would do it.

5. I find it amusing that a fisherman is saying that Staples Easytech who deals with a lot of removing Malware off of many people PC's is lying about norton.

Norton is a good "set it and forget it" security program for people want it to do all work and leave them alone.
