    _____________

I have just posted a cool Emoticon!

  • No, this is the best movie about El Mariachi, no comparacion, pienso que Banderas es buen actor, pero hubiese sido mejor que continuara el mismo actor de la primera

  • is that similar To desperado

  • @petlyunch Desperado is sequel to this film.

  • fun fact: this was made on a $7000 budget, and there could be no retakes of scenes. omg.

  • do any one now why he dream about that kid whit the head ???

  • This is better than the sequels. Antonio Banderas is famous and great actor, but I don't give a damn, the sequels are forced action movies, this first is better, not forced at all.

  • on a 7000 dollar budget. amazing storytelling, amzing action scenes, amazing cast, everything was amazing. highly recommended. but i do not recommend the rest of the series.

  • @ThaSubzstance $200,000 post production costs mind to get it to the cinemas.

  • This and Tarantino's reservoir dogs are the best independent films EVER

  • @KriegKadaver Add Christopher Nolan's "Following"

  • ya aki esta la evidencia de k ya lo vi :)

  • i saw this movie in 92 when i was 8. what the hell was my uncle thinking taking me to the theatre! but now im glad i saw it!

  • @litsquad

It's the original, it was never reshot, only the sequel Desperado was made with Columbia later.

  • Great film...

Just watched it. And to think how the director wrote and did this movie.. Its So real. With all the violence going on in Mexico. He did this back in 93

I'm a Big fan of all Robert Rodriguez films..

    Ready for the next one......

  • @SalBreceda77 hey, if you like robert rodriguez films you will probably like my video I uploaded an hour ago caled REBEL WITHOUR A CREW. I made it as an videorespone.

Would appriciate it if you could rate and comment (good or bad).

    Greetings from germany

  • this was an alright movie its worth watching but not worth it u should watch the third flick ounce upon a time in mexico

  • thank to this movie that TOTAL OVERDOSE WAS EXISTING......

  • best robert rodriguez movie!

  • RR is 23 here? He did not graduate from a filming school does he?

  • the mariachi is the guy who was hired in the movie ''The Punisher'' to kill Thomas Jane, and there again he held a guitar case, with guns..and a guitar in it

  • @throwintheswitch lava girl and shrk boy plus spy kids equals a ton of shit

    No offense

  • @udistritalextrema spy kids one and two were awesome, but i didnt see sharkboy....the trailer looked crappy enough, but this is the only RR movie til now thats so....all the others are godmade

  • @Brabbel93 his 7 yr old son wrote the lava girl movie

  • @MeYouDisgust are you serious? I somehow can't belive that...if you said his son made up the story and so on...but I'm sure the screenplay is by Robert himself

  • @Brabbel93 the screenplay is, but his son had the most influence on the movie. And really looking at how bad that movie was i find it pretty believable that it was written by a 7 year old

  • @MeYouDisgust one reason more to watch it :D

  • this movie had a simple plot, lots of shooting and style. good

  • love this movie

  • great movie!!!

seriously, this is like the best low budget film since nightmare on elm street

  • a m asterpice an art film ! a afntastic film that dosen t need sequels because is one of a kind !!!!!!

  • Amazing movie. Reading his book and seeing all the trials and struggle he went through to make this movie. And you know, even when he made it to Hollywood he never changed. He's such a great humble person who just loves making films.

  • One of my favorites, im reading his book "Rebel without a Crew" right now for the second time. This guy is a major inspiration!

  • This A fuckin awesome movie i didnt know Campa was El Mariachi it still good to see him Desperado wish he had a bigger part

  • description has not come soon

  • Is this movie in spanish in it's entirity, or is it just subtitled every once in a while?

  • Great Rodriguez film

  • Good movie, but desperado is better

  • This is the best underrated movie of all time. I give this flick 2 thumbs up..way up.

  • @30wonderwoman i liked it when they redid it with antonio banderas

  • @mikeblan789 Desperado and Pnce Upon A TIme in MExico were sequels to El MAriachi. Not remakes.

  • @codename617 i never watched it but it looked like Desperado in the trailer so i have no real standing

  • i saw this last nite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful movie

    just watched this yesterday

  • PUEDES VER LA PELI EN -> CINE15

  • I mean its pretty low budget but it doesn't look like what it is. Best film of the trilogy. The limitations of the medium can also be part of overall form.

  • So what was the film shot on? What camera? Anyone know? Was it film?

  • Arriflex 16s Camera with 400 foot magazine. Shot on 16mm film on 320 ASA Film Stock from Kodak. Then it was transferred to Video for editing to save cost. Entire production costed $6,500.

  • Freakin Awesome

  • 7k movie

  • I love the first two, but OUTIM didnt quite do it for me, it concentrated wayyy too much on depp's character if you asked me, I have nothing against him, in fact hes one of my favorite actors, I even liked the new Willy Wonka! Its just the film is supposed to be the fourth part of the 'Mariachi' series. I listened to the commentary on Once upon a time and was surprised to find out that they had actually planned to have a direct sequel to Desperado but they couldnt for some reason, I forget why.

  • Yeah, El Mariachi!

  • NIL, its great considering such a zero - no budget and illustrates Rodriguez early vision very well

  • love the look of this movie.

  • very cool

  • this movie is damn cool

  • o.g. indie classic

  • This is the first part of the Desperado movies actually :P A low budget movie that i think was pure crap compared to the Antonio parts lol

  • Dude I think you better take a closer look at "El Mariachi". It won at Toronto and then at Sundance and became one of the most famous independent films of all time. Made for $7,000 to prove that good editing, fresh faces, and a compelling story does not have to cost what "Desperado" costs.

  • Maybe that makes up for the worst acting ever...

  • As if Banderas is a great actor.

  • eh yeah...

  • Correction, it was made fo 30 000$. Rodriguez found a way to raise the money from the people around him, and made it with the tight budget of 30 000 or so, not 7 000$,

I dont want to seem harsh, just to correct you, since im a big fan of his,

  • incorrect, the complete movie was made for $7,000, which was what he used to get a deal with colombia and turn the industry upside down, when colombia decided they wanted to release theatrical, they re-edited the movie transferring to 35mm film.

  • Umm you are making be doubt my source lol...its in a book about movie stories...

    Ill check into that again.

  • well "big fan", everywhere I've checked says it's 7,000 as well.

  • I read in "Rebel Without A Crew", ( Robert Rodriguez's book), that it WAS made for $7,000. But you're right too - after Columbia got involved, it spend up to $30,000 on promotion, etc.

  • @Hrrpttr854

    Tanx about the post

  • @Hrrpttr854 and it made 2 million at the boxoffice not bad

  • Comment removed

  • @Hrrpttr854, if a filmmaker wants to remake with the same budget then probably El Mariachi would cost around 15 thousand or so. Remember INFLATION changes the budget of movies. For example E.T cost 10 million in 1982 but if someone wants to make it as right now then it will cost you 20 million or 18 million. Even Spielberg said that :) :)

  • @lavista2013 Yea I don't understand this post. Like I'm sure you're right and all but I was never talking about a remake. Two people were talking about how much the movie cost in 1992, not how much it would cost today, or how much it cost in today's dollars vs. 1992 dollars. I think you're trying to correct me, but you're grabbing at straws

  • @Hrrpttr854, just making sure you understand about inflation costs varies through time, I am making mine for 6 thousand dollars or so. However, it won't be film here (US), it's an original horror movie pretty much like Paranormal Activity, hopefully works because I really want to break into the hollywood business already since I got tons of ideas and original stories. The secret to succeed in Hollywood is STORY is KING. Never forget that :) :) :)

  • @Hrrpttr854 if you read his book "Rebel without a Crew" You would see that $6500 dollars was spent for film and processing. If you were to remake this film today with digital technology the movie could be made for around $500 bucks, all he bought was a few squibs, a water gun, hardware store clamp on light, and his own living expenses in Mexico which was food only, he stayed with a friend while there. Didn't pay for actors or buy food for them.

  • @7DSniper, A remake today would cost more than 7000 dollars especially if you edit it digitally. The reason is simple, NO PRODUCTION is the same, you just can't put another filmmaker living at his friend's house or something like that. The movie cost 7000 dollars on 16mm and Columbia Pictures like it so much that spent several times to transfer on 35mm so your idea to remake this movie today at $500 is out of proportion and production value. Sorry, but you are not being realistic.

  • @lavista2013 why would it be more digitally, i have a digital camera and can edit it for free with adobe premiere pro, just like he borrowed a friends camera and edited it for free at a public access station, if he did not have to pay for film and processing he could have made the film for around $500 bucks, so yes i am being realistic, also it doesn't matter what Columbia spent, that is their business what they spent on converting it, hell they spent more on advertising than the fim;s cost

  • @7DSniper, then why dont you remake it and prove me wrong otherwise you are not being realistic. Action speak louder than words. First of all, you CAN'T transfer digital to 35mm NEVER EVER. You have to shoot it on 16mm. The transfer is call a blown-up just in case if you dont know what that is. I will be shooting an original movie on digital camera. But if a studio is interested I will have to shoot it from the beginning on 35mm or 16mm just an example. I hope that helps :)

  • @lavista2013 I love a good healthy debate, first I have no desire to remake the film, second there are tons of studio movies that are not shot on film, they are strictly digital. Just do a search for it, look at Avatar for example 60% digital computer generated and 40% live action, not everything is filmed on actual film these days. Of course I know what blown up is, Robert mentions it in his book, again at the cost of the studio. I hope your movie is great I would love to watch it,

  • Not according to his own book.

    7,000 dollars.

  • he wasn't in the first one

  • punk, this is the original one!

  • badass

  • I'm gonna show this in class on Tuesday for my Spanish Culture presentation. So thanks a lot!

  • Awesome man. Thanks...
