  • Could someone tell me the name of the worst thief in human history?

To help you a little bit, he was a diplomat.

  • Well, i am a greek, my brother who lives in england told me that most of the british people are happy to see the monuments returning back to greece. So please, Stop flaming and blaming them

  • @bnbfak3: The only reason that Britsh museum doesn't give back our marbles is the money from tourists. If they give back all (stolen) objects from Egypt, Greece..... they will have not more something to show... so the museum could close his door....

  • The British museum is totally free for everyone to enter, British tax payers loose tens of millions of pounds every year because of it, you do not know what you are talking about.

  • Even the British Museum do not have much of a say in it, it is written in the museums founding charter that nothing can be removed from the permanent collection that that is supported by UK law. It is essentially the same as the way the USA constitution allows for gun ownership, 1000s of people die there every year because of it though nothing can be done to change the law because of it.

  • They are liars so because at first they promise the restitution of the frieze if greeks have a great museum. Now they don't want to give back the frieze to Greece or only with a signed loan by greeks. A loan? So that's mean greeks will legalize the steal of the frieze. A nice frieze broke and cut by your ancestor....Half of sculptures are destroyed with the shit go out of your ass let during summer in Greece.

  • They did not say they would send the sculptures to Athens, they have never said that and the chance that they will is extremely remote.

Also I am no relation to Lord Elgin, and the last part of your comment does not even make any sense.

  • Of course they said that. That's why there is an empty room in the new museum. It was the condition to give back the frieze.

Perhaps you need to come to Hellas to see the nice photos took by your brothers, you will see their moon...

  • You mean the Greeks paid a Swiss designer millions of euros to built a huge museum just on the promise of a few people you consider to be ignorant barbarians, who do you really think looks the stupidest in that situation?

  • Why do you talk about your masters (usa) ? Did you know that we (Europe) saw you as puppets of USA? I remember a nice song of George Michaels "good puppy good puppy..."

No the new museum was not only for the come back of the frieze.... we are not so crazy

So the UK law legalize the steal???? Interesting concept

  • The excuse that they had was that Greece had no place to put them, but now that they have a World class museum for them, now they look like complete idiots! To reunite the pieces is not just emotional for Greeks but it should be logical to everyone! Why have the cover here and the pages there? And no my friend British tax payers dont loose any money from the millions of tourist those pieces attract! So give them back to Greece! Ambassador Elgin stole them its no secret so what is the problem?

  • The problem for you is that Greece has no legal claim on them whatsoever, it is a shame for you though it is reality all the same, you do know what reality is dont you?

  • ghf

  • The theme of the Parthenon frieze is the procession of the Panathenaia,

the main part of the Great Panathenaic festival in honour of the goddess Athena.

IT TELLS A STORY YOU IDIOTS. You cannot understand it unless you see it united.

It's like tearing a book or a painting in half. And that's why people of the British museum and government don't care about art and have no respect for Greek civilization

(it's a hard thing to say but it's true). For us Greeks these marbles are more than art.

  • Half of the sculptures have been totally destroyed, it might tell a story though the story can never be complete YOU IDIOT!!!!

  • Please refrain from insulting the British people - especially those of us with Greek relatives:) The British Museum should be the target of your anger, not the whole nation.

  • Greece is not alone. Other countrys like Portugal were devastated by attacks that stole their precious-

  • It is interesting to note that Elgin claimed he had written approval for their removal, but was unable to produce the document to the then British Government.

    They simply accepted his word.

So .. no proof ... then the monuments have to be considered stolen.

    Britain ... return them!

  • Humanity is waiting for the reunion!!!

  • In that case you had better tell humanity not to holds its breath.

  • Mother Greece waits for the return of her children!!! It's like having a hand without the fingers!!! We want the reunion!!!

  • Give us back our marbles. This is part of Greece's history.

  • The marbles must be sent back to where they belong! This is the minimum that should be done for bringing back the dignity of these antiquites and reuniting a masterpiece of ART!!(ACROPOLIS)

  • You pompus Brits now have no excuse. Bring back the Marbles!

  • It's not "Brits" but mostly the British Museum. The majority of British people do not have any problem with our request for the reunion of the marbles.

  • I stand corrected.

  • Bring The Parthenon Marbles And All Greek Ancient Monuments Back To The Place They Were Born...
