@Njallzzz as z00h said, it's a teleprompter. I think the ipad reflects off the 45degree mounted glass such that the actors can see the teleprompter. Additionally, the camera records from behind the glass, so when the actors are looking at the teleprompter, they are also looking at the camera

Yeah, the iPad is a teleprompter where they can put information that Darren and Shannon can read while looking directly into the camera.
Helps to make sure in the heat of the moment you dont forget specific details you meant to cover :).
