I completely understand why Thomas found the Oregon head coach, teammates and school environment attractive. But, as a UCLA alum it's frustrating that he left LA and didn't feel the same about UCLA. George Farmer IS faster. I uploaded a video of Farmer running down Thomas in the 100m. Farmer is by far the faster of the two, he beat him by nearly 2 tenths of a second.
Is that why Farmer beat him twice at the CIF State Championships last year? Farmer is obviously the faster of the two, he consistently put up faster times in the 100m/200m these last 2 years and he beat him head to head when they ran against each other. Take off the yellow and green glasses because there's nothing that suggests Thomas is faster than Farmer.

Sumler when he was running hs track posted slower FAT 100m/200m times than both Farmer and Thomas and in 4 years of competing at Gulliver Prep and Columbus HS never even made the state finals in Florida's 4A, or less competitive 3A class. In fact, he's probably UO's 3rd fastest '11 recruit after Thomas and Blackmon.

Also, even if he is at 3rd or 4th (likely 4th, Seastrunk is supposed to be BEAST) on the depth chart, there's no real reason he shouldn't redshirt anyway, Remene Alston, only got a couple snaps last season (though, he was probably the closest thing we had to a power back then, he may not have even gotten those snaps if he weren't.) In short, This is likely the only season we'll be able to say we're stocked enough to CONSIDER redshirting an athlete like DAT, and I don't see any reason not to.
Another thing to note, though obviously this isn't a guarantee of anything, part of the reason he chose Oregon over USC was that Kelly recruited DAT primarily as a RB
I said the wrong name, it Was Dontae Williams, RFr RB that transferred. That being said, I'd be surprised to see him leapfrogging Anthony Gildon, a solid starter in his own right, who started half the season before Harris took the spot. Part of the reason I think Kelly will stick a redshirt on him is they don't have any really huge needs at the positions he'd be likely to play. (aside from possibly WR, but this class is already well stocked in that department.)

Also, even if he is at 3rd or 4th (likely 4th, Seastrunk is supposed to be BEAST) on the depth chart, there's no real reason he shouldn't redshirt anyway, Remene Alston, only got a couple snaps last season (though, he was probably the closest thing we had to a power back then, he may not have even gotten those snaps if he weren't.) In short, This is likely the only season we'll be able to say we're stocked enough to CONSIDER redshirting an athlete like DAT, and I don't see any reason not to.

Another thing to note, though obviously this isn't a guarantee of anything, part of the reason he chose Oregon over USC was that Kelly recruited DAT primarily as a RB

I said the wrong name, it Was Dontae Williams, RFr RB that transferred. That being said, I'd be surprised to see him leapfrogging Anthony Gildon, a solid starter in his own right, who started half the season before Harris took the spot. Part of the reason I think Kelly will stick a redshirt on him is they don't have any really huge needs at the positions he'd be likely to play. (aside from possibly WR, but this class is already well stocked in that department.)

Oregon now sits with 5 RBs. Daryle Hawkins applied for a transfer to a different school and was accepted. The depth chart as I see it:
1. LaMichael James (Jr.)
2. Kenjon Barner (Jr.)
3. Lache Seastrunk (RS Fr.)
4. DeAnthony Thomas (Fr. likely to redshirt)
5. Tra Carson (Fr. may or may not redshirt, as he is a power back as opposed to the four scatbacks we currently have.)

5 star 6.1 rated players are suppose to have "excellent pro potential". 5 star players grace the bench of USC. more than half are on their way to careers as dishwashers or janitors in 4 years. yet if one of them makes it to the NFL U$C says..."look at this guy...we made him what he is". if recruiting alone decided which team would win U$C would have beat oregon the last two years by 200 points easily. lane kiffin can recruit..ill give him that. not sure if he can coach though. well see.
