just because an artist moves in a new direction that doesnt coincide with what they were doing before does not signal their downhill demise nor does it mean they've sold out to the mainstream. artists experiment, they change, and they evolve. that is what music is about. Listening to shit from 1999 brings back good memories but i definitely dont appreciate it as much as i used to. Any change will initially be cautiously received by the masses but those who are great will challenge the status quo
