Hey! I posted on here loooong time ago, and told ya about my buildup with the same cam. Finally got the dyno vid edited down, and put it as a response on here! Hope ya like it!
I checked out your video, very strong engine! I have since went with a small roller cam, a Comp Cams XER 282. I have a couple of new videos of my new cam. Check them out if you get a chance.
nice man. almost reminds me of the 55 in american graffieti with the rims you got on it. it sure looks like a drag car. haha put some shackles on it lol
the XE284 is a great cam! Im running a 383 with that cam with AFR 195 eliminators and a Mighty Demon 750. My vids are of the old set up with cast heads and a magnum series cam, I need to update my page! But anyway its pretty streetable in my 69 C10 with a TCI 2500 converter. I agree with 1969Pontiac406 though, mine seems a little tight. High idle in nuetral to get a decent idle in gear. But I havent had much time to dial it in perfect either, but long story short- GREAT CAM!
sounds healthy man, what she idleing at? i got the same xe284 in a 406 also i gtta idle it at 1150 to keep a steady idle at 650 in gear. my converter is a lil to tight for the cam. it says the cam needs a 2800+ but i only got a 2500. haha o well
thanks! it idles at 800 rpm. i have since speeded it up to around 900. i bet your car runs really strong. do you have any dragstrip times? i plan on racing mine pretty soon.
The cam is very streetable in my engine. My heads are good for a .600 lift cam. This cam is around .511 lift. Alot of people have told me I should go alot bigger, something like a big roller. I'm very happy with it and I have no complaints. Good luck with your build.
in a larger smallblock, the XE284 is VERY mellow. check my vids to hear mine. the main diff is mine has Eddy rpm heads and 10.1-1. mines mellow enough i drive it 20 miles to the track, run, then come home. supposedly putting down about 425 with mine (12 ohs with a 3.55 gear)
I used the same parts as a build up Chevy High Performance magazine did and they got 450hp. I don't think I'm quite there yet. Thanks for the comment.
Sweet!

That's just wrong! No one should have two of these, when I don't have one yet!

Sounds great. Any vacuum problems with this cam?

@DansChevy350K10 Thanks! I'm sure if I had power brakes there would have been issues.

Your car sounds really mean. If i could do it over I would have went larger on the cam. I know the heads and cubic inches would support it.

Nice 57! I love how the gasser look is making a comeback!

Thanks alot! I plan on installing heavy duty coil springs to raise up the front. I may remove the front bumper too.
spockistheman 3 years ago
Then throw on a pair of fenderwell headers and you're set!
zachschevelle 3 years ago
I've been looking at some fenderwell headers. They cost about 3 times more than a regular set.. If I can find a good used set that would be sweet!

So when is this beast coming to Kanawa Valley?
Hemihart 3 years ago
It may not ever make it up there. Kanawa is a good 3 hours from my house. It does have a date at the dragstrip this spring.

wes2880 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment! Its probably right around 800 rpm.
