  • that chain nees sharopning

  • @131313james131313 Yeah, it probably did need sharpening. But it takes ages, as it's a 28" bar, so I was getting lazy I expect! I reckon the volume of wood it goes through there is like cutting dozens of trees, so it blunts fast...

  • its good to see someone using the chain break 90% of people i see with chainsaws never use them when moving with the chainsaw i thought i was the only one who did use it

  • @GarrettJDB Yeah, it was drummed into us during training.

  • @mikepepler what about 20 years ago before they had it then what did you do thats what a idle throttle lock is for

  • @sada3393 I've not come across "idle throttle lock" before - how was it used?

  • @mikepepler kinda like the new safety and the stop button on new circular saws.

  • silly me.. been doing 1 log at a time

  • i run a Fire Wood Company and i use the New 570 it has Built in Ported in the Engine not like the old Style Muffler like the 372XP the 570 is the best Saw i use so far from Husqvarna

  • Yes, I love it, it's a great saw! The only downside is it's a bit heavy for coppicing work (I tried it for a year) - so I use a 346XP for that.

  • ur kidin this saw has no power

  • Depends what you compare it I guess. It's plenty for what we do.

  • wasant callin it a bad saw.........i was tryin to tell doomhell999 tht the 570 dont hold a candle to the 372

570 is a good saw but ill stick to my 372 and 395 for now

  • I was actually going to buy a 372xp when I went to the shop, but they were out of stock, and they had the 570 in, so I got that and saved some money at the same time. I know the 372xp has more power - I wonder if the 570 has more low-end torque though - perhaps that's what doomhell999 is referring to with the engine being ported?

  • @mikepepler porting is where u match the piston port with the exaust port i belive..........i may be wrong but i kno u match the exaust port with somethin which gives out more air flow through the engine and pretty much doubles the power

  • There's an explanation of the "X-torq" technology on the web. I can't paste a web address into a comment, but google for "2 Stroke and X Torq - Chainsaw Specialists" and you'll find it. Basically it injects some fresh air to the cylinder between exhaust and intake, to purge the exhaust gases.

  • Get yourself a Woodbine!

  • They look useful, but we don't cut enough wood each year to be worth buying big machinery, so we have to keep to small-scale solutions.

  • Nice Job with the chain saw does. Interesting way to cut the all pile of wood.

  • It's a lot quicker than cutting logs up individually and then splitting them with an axe. We split these in 2m lengths a year ago, using an axe and also steel wedges with a sledgehammer. They've seasoned well stacked up, according to our customers, and are also unlikely to get pinched as they're not easy to carry away!

  • Have a look at the Buckingham log station mate. I put mine in the trailer, cut thro ugh the logs and they drop into the trailer below. Not so much bending down and you dont run the chain thro the dirt.

  • Yes, looks neat, I can see it saves a lot of bending down while sawing. But our racks double up as a store - we leave the logs in them for a year while they're seasoning, so if I used a different cutting aid then I'd have to move the logs into at. However, I can see that for smaller amounts of logs your system is very good.
