The consequences for image making was not limited to the likeness of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers and peace upon him.) , but for any created being the possesses a soul. As most of the earlier Companions understood and conveyed it to the latter generations, up until our times. But because many enemies of Islam used 9/11 as an excuse to attack Muslims and what they believe, they disregard the consequences to their own souls by making images.

@joeyvader I'm not trying to win you over concerning how Islam is established in lands that accept it as the upper word in the land. And one of the Attributes of Allah is "Al-Adl", the Source of True Justice", and He has made justice for both males and females. So if the male is also guilty of adultery, then yes he too would be stoned to death. Your or others opinion about these matters does not change the orders of He, Who, is Far Above the false things people attribute to Him.
