  • I also like in Cook. Theres a Thunderbolt on my old High School, Prosser Career Academy in Chicago, but I don't think it is used anymore.. because not even like 300 ft away there's a stupid Federal Signal 2001..

  • Ah, I see. Hopefully, that Thunderbolt is still in service. Thanks for the comment.

  • can you help me with uploading my videos in HD?

  • All you have to do is set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and the screen size to 1280x720.

  • i am not trying to be annoying but how the heck do you do that? lol

  • It's kinda hard to explain, but you can find a video of how to make your videos HD.

  • i can do that but how can you simply set the size and ratio?

  • You need a video editing software in order to do that.

  • Awsome Job Brandon the SRNB and 1000T sound perfect together

  • Thanks, Justin. I agree, even though the 1000T got replaced on April 7th. lol

  • i also live in cook county

  • That's cool. Thanks for the comment.

  • Holy crap! That 2001 made me ruin my pants!

  • Wow, I'm sorry that happened. That 2001-SRNB is the closest siren to my house. I got surprised, too.

  • that is what our new 2001's one of the 2001 is near house it sounds like that in the wail tone in a tornado warning while the other 5 are in the alert mode.

  • Oh, that's cool. I didn't know that.

  • I tell you one thing on February 5th, 2008 we had a tornado almost came close to my hometown to Brownsville, Tennessee all 8 sirens in our siren system were going off at 8:30pm at night even our two new 2001's with them wailing at night it sure would get every ones attention even at night one of the 2001's is a quarter mile from my house .

  • They don't test the sirens where I live anymore...we don't get many tornados in Phoenix :) Your video did send chills down my spine from some Cold War memories though!

  • Wow, I didn't know that. I didn't hear anything about tornadoes in Phoenix, either. Al they get is hot weather. Thanks for the comment.

  • the biggest tornado outbreak before you and i were even around Brandon, was the April 3rd & 4th, 1974 when 148 tornadoes hit 13 states 2 cities got hit the worse Xenia, Ohio 35 people dead and Brandenburg, Kentucky 31 people dead with no weather warning and no sirens Xenia, Ohio did have sirens the tornado came too fast with no warning now today there is warning and sirens if some towns can afford them some small towns can't afford sirens they are too expensive.

  • Damages from that storm were 600 million$ if im right.

  • right our damage from out two tornadoes that hit Brownsville, Tennessee the most expensive damage from our tornado 3 years ago was $400,000 the February 5th Super Tuesday outbreak $169,980 no deaths or injuries we had warning of the storms coming into our area in our siren system we have 8 in the siren system 7 in the city 1 in a smaller town 12 miles southwest of my hometown

  • The sirens here in the south suburbs are awesome.

  • That's cool.

  • 0:23 has a scary wind up sound.

  • That was a Thunderbolt and a 2001 winding up at the same time. It did sound pretty scary, though.

  • if you want to listen to the loudest siren try listening to an American Signal T135 it has the longest wind up and wind down it sounds scary going off in the attack mode but you can really hear it in the alert mode i was in Memphis, Tennessee one Saturday when they use to test their sirens at 12noon pm to 12:02pm it sounds creepy in the alert tone.

  • They have a T-135 in Plainfield, IL. I plan to visit there sometime.

  • I have heard the T-135 in the alert mode never in the attack mode because the EMA in Memphis, Tennessee don't use the attack tone in fear of an enemy attack the only signal they use is just the alert tone they don't want to get people upset by using the attack tone in tornado warnings we have been using the alert tone for years for our tornado warnings we hardly ever use the attack signal anymore that signal was used in the 1940's of world war 2.

  • that close 2001 almost blew me out of the chair!

  • Yeah, I know it. I was thinking it wasn't gonna go off, but it did. Thanks, Jeb.

  • Weird. Dane County, Wisconsin (where I live) only does their tests from March to November. And they don't do the Attack signal either. But yeah.

  • Your area doesn't test year-round?

  • No, it doesn't. Because of school and the schedule, I can only record my town's tests in the summer. It really kind of sucks.

  • Yeah, I know it. Thanks for the comment, btw. :)

  • Wow, very nice recording B-man! Gotta love the two Thunderbolts sounding in harmony with the 2001s.

  • Yeah, I definitely agree. Thanks, Ian. :)

  • No probelm!

  • Cool Vid, Those Sirens Sound Freaky!

  • Yeah, they do. Thanks, man.

  • Brandon, I think you need to go on a siren hunt, because 0:23 sounds way more like a 612 than a 1000T.

  • There are no EOWS-612 in my area. That was a Thunderbolt 1000T and a 2001 winding up at the same time.

  • we have 1 EOWS-612 its been giving us trouble half of the time it will go off with the other 6 and half of the time it will still be going off while the others shut down it has been struck by lightning once in a heavy thunderstorm the fuse was blown and burnt up. i think it is time to ditch that siren and put a new one in its place maybe a American Signal siren, another Federal Signal siren or a Whelen vortex 4004 series.

  • illinois duznt evn have an EOWS612 prpobly

  • They do, but not in Cook County, which is the county I live in. All Cook County have is 2001s, Thunderbolts, and ASC sirens.

  • no way i live in Evergreen park by EPCHS hi skool n liv rite by a FS2001 SRN we have 4 of dem i luve the sound of them n soothing

  • Yeah, they have a good sound.

  • Dang!

  • I agree. It seriously surprised me when the 2001 close to my house went off.

  • Great video. . .cool ambience...Oh...i like how the random 2001 and tbolt jumps in. I didnt expect that!

    Nice vid though!

  • Thanks, man. I was thinking that our 2001 & Thunderbolt wasn't gonna go off, but it surprised me when they did.

  • They test here in the winter too, even though it says somewhere on the city's website that they don't. Weird. Also do you know if the whole state of Illinois tests on the same day?

  • I'm assuming that the whole state of Illinois tests on the 1st Tuesday of every month, but they get tested at different times. For instance, some areas test at 10:00 AM CT, and some areas test at 10:30 AM CT.

  • Thanks, just wondering because I'll be in the Quad Cities then and I've never heard Moline's siren system before.

  • Oh, I see. No problem. Good luck going to the Quad Cities.

  • at 1:24 the sirens got LOUD!

I herd the 2001 and the thunderbolt 1000t

    you recored! great video!

  • Thanks, man. I agree. They are loud from my house.

  • wooooooooow.....tornado sirens wailing during snowy weather. they never do that here in Arkansas.

  • Yep, my city tests year-round. I surprised that they do. Very surprised. I'm glad they test year-round, too. Thanks for the comment, btw. :)

  • sounds like will county has one original ASC T-135. and maybe some Whelens mixed in there too. nice vid brandon.

  • Thanks, Tim. Will County does have a T-135, but I couldn't hear it at all. I think I heard a T-128 or something like that. I live in Cook County, though. My county doesn't have any Whelens.

  • Nice, for some reason I think its because there's less moister in the air the sound from the sirens travels a lot farther then duringthe spring summer & fall seasons...

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. The sirens are also probably louder than September 2nd because there are no leaves on the trees.

  • Cool video, Brandon! Sorry i didnt get to the video, with school and everything.

  • It's okay. I understand. Thanks for the comment, though. :)

  • i noticed that the will county area acutily has some american signal sirens.

  • Yeah, I believe they do.

  • i acutily saw a t-135 in Joliet somewhere.

  • It's actually in Plainfield.

  • sounds like fond du lac's transitional era in the siren systems when i was young, when they were tearing up the tbolts, and puytting in rm130's. snif

  • Oh, I see. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • very cool! love the ambience. being in a metro area in illinois is definitely really fun for siren testing cause all the cities start their sirens at slightly different times so you get to hear so many go off

  • Yep, that's true. I agree. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • yea i think thats pretty cool how Illinois does their siren tests. Seems like most of Indiana does it by county so you don't get as interesting of a mix as you do in Illinois.

  • I see it snowed XD nice recording. got up close to the Thunderbolt downtown lol drowned out everything else

  • Yep, it was snowing. And yep, I sure did. Thanks for the comment. :)

  • Awesome video.

  • Thanks, Justin. :)

  • No, problem. Btw, I don't live in Madison, IL. I live in Matteson, IL. I do agree that our sirens went off after the 1st ones. My county doesn't have any Thunderbolt 1000s. Those low-pitched sirens were actually ACA sirens. Those sirens are in Orland Park, IL. So, you probably heard those. :)

  • I'm thinking Olympia Fields, IL and Park Forest, IL.

  • Amazing! That 2001 sure goes sound like a 3016

  • Thanks, Matt. I agree with you. The 2001 does sound like a Whelen 3016. Too bad my county doesn't have any Whelens, though.

  • There are or at least were some 3016s in Will County just to the SE of Matteson as part of the Braidwood EPZ.

  • Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks.

  • Thats a hair raising sound! At night and with a storm, this would give anyone a chill.

  • I know what you mean. Thanks, man.

  • Nice video! Another silent siren test foor me.

  • Thanks for the comment. Do you think that 2001-130 in Markham, IL will be tested on January 6th?

  • I don't know, it's still not wired.

  • Oh, I see. They need to hurry and wire it so it can go off on January 6th.

  • Awesome video, Brandon. I love your system videos, their the perfect mix of sirens.

  • Thanks, Charlie. I agree.

  • Excellent job.

  • Thanks, Eric.

  • Wow that is cool.We sound ours here in minnesota every month too.

  • Thanks for the comment. What day of every month? Over here, our sirens test every 1st Tuesday of every month.

  • wow nice job!

  • Thanks, man.

  • That 2001 sounds pretty close to you. The thunderbolt winding down at around 1:50 is sounding a little rough, but all in all great recording!

  • Yeah, I noticed that it was a little rough. I hope it doesn't have any "hiccups" because it never did before. And yes, the 2001 is close to me. It's a few streets down from my house.

  • Nice vid Brandon! You can hear more than 2 sirens this time. It surprised me when I heard the 2001 right near you start up.

  • Thanks, Andy. It surprised me, too. I was thinking that it wasn't gonna go off, but it did. So, now I know that my city test year-round. :)

  • Same with mine, but I won't be filming a siren in my area until July. Later this month, I might film a Sentry 5V and/or a Model 5 out in a small town in Colorado, and that town is Las Animas.

  • Wow those are scary sounding sirens Brandon! Great system recording! :D

  • Thanks, Dan. This is the best one I recorded.
