This is the tune sung at 14 stations of the cross on Good Friday in Cebu, Philippines. I thought it's a Filipino tune. Now I know it is Arabic. Very spiritual.
Beautiful music indeed, but not a Fairuz original. The melody is borrowed from a piece called "Que ne suis-je une fougère", a French poem with the music attributed to either Pergolesi or Albanese.
Still, very appropriate for Eastern rite Good Friday.
Crying every time I listen to it. My brother died of cancer. The last day he told me.''Please, my brother, I want to listen to Fairouz Wa Habibi so I can fall asleep''And that was the last day I heard his voice: (. Thank you Jesus for taking him to you <3 Love you, my king!
@SIUIIRAQ Search for "Good Friday: Eastern Sacred Songs" by Fairuz on Amazon.com. From there you will have the option of purchasing either an imported CD for 14.95 or downloading songs from the MP3 album (.89 cents USD each or $5.99 USD for the entire album).
This is the same tune we have in our traditional Mar Thoma (St.Thomas Nazrani) christian churches in Kerala (west coast of South India). This song is sung during Good Friday and also during Holy Communion service.
See this video (a bit commercial adaptation, and not exactly like how we normally sing in churches)
@slop06 hang in there brothers & sister, we are all with you, and when its time we will come to liberate you from satan! our prayers go out to you and every persecuted christian all around the world!
Fairouz lets the words from her mouth like small birds emerging from a protected nest; they fly so tentatively and sweetly, like each word has been lovingly crafted in God's own hands and coated with gold and crystal.
The images used in this video were the same ones used for the procession of the stations of the cross at my church for Holy Friday. I always get goosebumps on this day and have a strong urge to cry when I see the images of Christ being carried to the calvary. I get that big knot in my throat and feel as if Im really there.
@thedabick personally I think the Melkite Catholic Church has the best music, because it is the Byzantine rite in arabic. Chaldean, Syriac, and Maronite churches are officially Aramaic speaking, but do have some Arabic hymns too. Check out my channel.
Every time I listen to this hymn I feel the pain of every mother who lost a son or loved one. God bless all people on earth and peace to their hearts. God is love...
Jesus sacrifices himself to save us from our sins.
May God bless you all my brothers and sisters in Christ. May God bless our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East who suffer and who die for our religion.
Pray for all, does not matter what religion you believe. For all have only one way in the end, And that is Jesus Christ Beautiful path! God Bless the earth's population, AMEN!
amen, bro! God bless you. God's love has been poured out for us in Christ. we know God loves us, because God came and showed us His love, by giving us Himself. He wanted to. that kind of love, the mind can not comprehend.
i love you jesus .... may u bless my familly and beloved and all the people around the world .... may ure peace and big heart hug the earth and fullfill it with love and hapiness ....
Here in Russia we have a long tradition of Orthodox Christian music and there is not that much that can impress us beyond our tradition, but this song and especially the way Fairouz is singing it takes all national and cultural borders away - she is touching my heart in such a way that I do believe she is blessed by the God to remind us about His Love.
yes, thank you, Jesus. let us not forget to say this, everyday. thank you for posting this beautiful song, Fairoz is amazing and it's great to hear her use her beautiful voice to glorify Christ. it is such a sad tune, and it should be sad. but there is joy at the end of the story.
Amazing Song....Thank You Jesus for you died for us on the cross...as the Bilble says 1Ti 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all...Jesus Chris is Real and alive and when you pray He will hear you,,,

The melody itself is an old Occitan melody sung for the song "Adieu paure carneval" (Goodbye poor Carnaval). You find the same rhythm in dozens of Occitan songs.
its very sad that this tune is dying out in india because we keep on singing it in our native language, which is not so beautiful it being a hindu language...could you have the lyrics in arabic but readable in english? shlomo :)
this is the holiest version ive heard....As said before we do have this same tune in India but it is dying out because we always sing it in our native language...its very sad because people never realize its true beauty in arabic/aramaic...could you have the lyrics in arabic but able to read in english? shlomo :)
This is a beautiful interpretation of a common Catholic hymn tune, sung during Lent, God of Mercy and Compasssion, Look with pity upon me; Father let me call Thee Father, 'Tis thy child returns to Thee. Jesus Lord I ask for mercy; Let me not implore in vain; All my sins I now detest them, Never will I sin again.
@ritajafar if u felt it, that means theres a part of you that loves Jesus..if you can love Jesus then soon enough your eyes will be opened and you will see that he is equal to God. Peace :)
Do Arabic speaking Christians also call God by the name of "Allah" ?, so is Allah just the Arabic name for God no matter what religion you are ?, do you refer to God the Father as "Allah" in Arabic ? What about Jesus, do you ( Arabic speaking Christians ) also call Him "Allah" since He is God the son ? I am really curious about these questions and would really like to have them answered by an Arabic speaking Christian.
Alot of questions. Ya oum allah means O mother of God. Yes Christians call god Allah in Arabic. Allah just means God no matter what religion you are. Allah comes from the Aramaic word Alaha, and that is used by Aramaic speaking Christians. God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are each and collectively called Allah because in Christianity we believe each person of the Holy Trinity is God, and there is One God. Al-Ab, Al-Ibn, and Al Rohh Al Quddous, mean the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Thank you for answering my questions. Are there still Christians around these days who use Aramaic in their Liturgy or are you refering to the early Christians of the past who were the contemporaries of the Apostles ( the first Christians around the time of Christ and the Apostles ) ?
Chaldeans, Maronites, Assyrians, and Syriacs all speak classical Aramaic in their Divine Liturgies. These ethnically Aramaic groups speak a modern form of Aramaic/Syriac in daily life as well. The language never died out, it just became more modern and easier to use in daily life.
what would i be without Jezus Christ, what would humanity be without hope. Lets all be thankfull to Jezus Christ, because he is the one carrying our sins for us. God bless you all.

hi! this is a prayer sung on the day Jesus was dying on the cross from HIS Mother,Mother Mary and She is saying to Him ;My love in what situation you are now as i see youeven the olive trees are crying seeing you like this on the cross in other words it is the crying of a mother seeing her son die....so sad, when we pray this on Good Friday we cry all the time
you are correct, i never said it was just us, it is also Lebanese, Coptic, Palestinan, Syriac, etc. Christians that are persecuted for our true faith since the times of Mohammed. I think i make it obvious who it is to blame for the persecution we have.
you couldn't have made it any clearer lol..you're right..hope you didnt think i was lashing out at you in any way with the reply..anyways have a great day..peace and god bless..

This song really touched my heart. This song is sung in India as well in our own native langauges. Having lived in the Middle East for almost half my life I understood a good part of it in Arabic as well. Thanks again my Christian brother to posting such a beautiful song.

all christians in the middle east have been persecuted for hundreds of yrs..not just chaldeans...
rabadi 4 years ago 4
you are correct, i never said it was just us, it is also Lebanese, Coptic, Palestinan, Syriac, etc. Christians that are persecuted for our true faith since the times of Mohammed. I think i make it obvious who it is to blame for the persecution we have.

This song really touched my heart. This song is sung in India as well in our own native langauges. Having lived in the Middle East for almost half my life I understood a good part of it in Arabic as well. Thanks again my Christian brother to posting such a beautiful song.
