Yes, there was quite a lot of change during this period...from Ottoman Empire to British control and Haj Amin (who was let down by the British) and the Balfour Declaration and then finally, the Nakba of 1948 after WW2. Millions to this day are refugees and cannot return home. Some olive trees are very old and should be respected simply for that. They need not "belong" to anyone. The Arabs have taught the world much, including medicine and the foundation of mathematics.

Psychologists recognise that most of these kids seek alternative father figures as they no longer feel their father can protect them. They find this alternative through joining the resistance. Many of these kids were not interested in politics..only playing and school work, before being attacked by the IDF or seeing things no child should.

Let me tell you something you probably don't know - more than 30% of Palestinian casualties in fightings with Israel, even Hamas terrorists, got treatment afterwards in Israeli hospitals.

Hamas can leave the decision of getting the treatment from Israel to the people themselves. What happens is that Hamas brought this attack on them with its stupid rockets, and then prevent them from getting medical care. So who's the enemy of the Palestinian people here?

Hamas didn't break the ceasefire it was Israel on november 4th so its Israel who brought on the war. I agree with you that the war was terrible, but this argument that Israel broke the ceasefire is very weird. First, the ceasefire was initially temporary - they signed for 6 months. After Israel's strike against militants who tried to attack Israeli military vehicle on november (a justified self-defense action of the IDF) there were another 4 months of relative calm. After the ceasefire has ended Hamas fired more than 200 rockets in 4 days into Israel, saying it will not continue the ceasefire.

2 -that's why this argument that Israel broke the ceasefire is very distorted - actually, both sides broke the ceasefire during the ceasefire period - but it's not the reason it stopped - it just didn't continue since hamas didn't want to continue and started firing afterwards. Perhaps hamas only wanted to put more pressure on Israel, but Israel decided not to play its game and that is time to let hamas pay the price. Unfortunately, many civilians paid the price for Hamas' stupidity as well.

I saw the video where CNN "revealed" that. Again, (1) in Nov 4 the IDF had to act - Palestinian militants were planning an attack on its people. It was clearly self-defence. (2) Hamas didn't increase the rockets afterwards - only a month and a half after that incident, so it's not really connecting well.

I'm sorry, people in Gaza suffer but they are not and were not starving to death. There are dozens of aid organizations that are in touch with Israel and they can get supplies in all the time

Hamas fired more than 6000 rockets since Israel left gaza in 2005 until the ceasefire stopped in Dec 2008l. That incident where the IDF had to act cannot be blamed for all this.

My point is that Hamas (and other islamist organizations) are the worst enemy not only of Israel but also of the Palestinian people. Arab countries start to understand that (and the danger these groups pose for them) but it's time that the people of Palestine understand this as well. Israel will not commit suicide and will not disappear, and the Palestinians shouldn't suffer due to Hamas' apocalyptic visions. The Palestinians are not little kids - they should take their future in their hands.

2 - the problem is that Hamas is not interested in good life for the Palestinian people - they are interested in Israel's destruction, in the framework of apocaliptic radical religious vision. It's not the settlements in the WB that bother Hamas - it's the entire Jewish (independent) existence in that area.

I don't support the settlements, but I wish Israel and the PA, if one day reach agreement, decide that Jews can continue living in the Palestinian state (just as PL live in Israel)

I tried to post a reply earlier but for some reason it didn't work... anyway, things in the WB are not ideal but they are getting better. The economy starts to develop and is already better than it was in 2000. Hamas is oppressed very efficiently there and Israel and the PA cooperate well. I hope that soon there will indeed be an indepedent Palestinian state, without checkpoints and such.

But actually I don't know if I'm really that optimistic about everything.. we'll have to wait and see

Im not very optimistic with this new government coming in but i don't see any improvement in the west bank, there were reports of settlements increasing in their thousands at the begining of this month and i have also recently seen a documentary which shows the palestinians in the west bank having to without running water for up to 3 months.

If the Palestinian government in Gaza wants Israel to open its borders for trade with them, I don't think that calling for Israel's destruction and firing rockets at its civilians is the best way to convince Israel to normalize relations with them. True but look at the west bank there is no Hamas there but settlements there are still increasing, the people there still hav to wait hours at checkpoints and some even go without running water for 3 months becuase of the underground israeli water system. If Israel showed the people in the west bank respect for voting Fatah then maybe there would have been hope of gazans increasing their support for Fatah.

The situation in the WB is not ideal after years of fighting and lack of cooperation between Israel and the PA, but now it gradually becomes better, checkpoints are removed since there are less security threats, and I hope that the negotiations will continue and thing will be better both in the WB and Gaza. The Palestinians deserve independence and better life.
