This was remade (and very nicely, I add) by The Three Degrees in 1993. They called it "I'm Thru With Him" (but kept the "to hell with him" lyric towards the end of the song.) It's really a great cover, you all should check it out. It's got a nice disco flair to it, despite being recorded ten years after Taka's.
I saw her sing this live (to track) at San Francisco's legendary/defunct I-Beam Dance Club in the Haight Ashbury... around 1983 or 84. I have pictures! I also bought the 12"-single... It was about 8 minutes or so long.
Love this! It's a shame Taka didn't have the chart success her sister did. This song is pretty slamming. And I love the campy aspect that it literally looks like they filmed the video one afternoon in her own apartment! Rock on, Taka!
Amazing..........26 years later, I find there's actually a video to this song! I used to dance to this at The Saint in Dallas............right after the Dynasty Party every Wed night!
I hung out with Taka Boom in NYC in the 80s. She was quite an individual. Great pool player too. I backed her in a bet that she could beat this egocentric dude in pool. She kicked his butt and still owes me the $5 I loaned her... :)
Taka has stated that this is the only record she wished shehad never made -she hated it. I happen to really like this song - it was one of my favorites of 1983. The video is absolutley dreadful, though, her 'acting' is more like a drag queen's performance. I'm sure Takak would cringe if she saw this on youtube. LOL
Initially, I was not too keen on the song. But I have to say that, in its own way, the video got me more into it! It's quite campy, and it works well in the context of this song!
Thanks for the post! I remember her other video "Middle of the Night". Do you have any rare videos from Shalamar like that video, "I Don't Wanna Be The Last To Know"?
Actually, thinking about it now, I am not aware of the actual video for that song. But I do remember hearing there was a video for "I Can Make You Feel Good." Know anything about it?
Actually "A Night To Remember" and "I Don't Want To Be The Last To Know" were Shalamar's only videos that promoted the Friends lp in 1982. Both of them were filmed in the UK. Around 1982, Shalamar were rarely together (except in the UK) because of begining of group tensions, Howard having to fix his failing first marriage, and Jody's first pregnancy. Friends was mostly promoted in the UK in the latter half of 1982.
A very good upbeat dance track for its time!
Thanks for posting.

I had never heard it until I saw her perform at the I-Beam in SF. This small Ball of Energy with a huge, filthy mouth. I loved her instantly! lol

@retrorhythms
Someone posted this video on Taka Boom's FB page and she deleted it (!).

@BabyJaneHudson She didn't delete it! I actually asked her before I posted it on there, and she gave me the go-ahead. It's still on there.
