  • Great list! All of them are completely great choices!

  • @Crisrav1138 Thanks man!

  • Hey, I was not expecting this...what a nice surprise! Lately I've been thinking about both Danny Elfman's score for the 1989 Batman film, and Alan Silvestri's score for Sam Raimi's western The Quick and the Dead. Both these scores have several wonderful cues apiece.

The Fountain is a great score, agreed. I love Howard Shore's music for Cronenberg's films, especially The Fly and Dead Ringers (Se7en as well). Hans Zimmer has too many terrific scores to count, my fave being Batman Begins.

  • @CineRam Glad you liked it! Elfman is good too. I actually recently bought The Quick And The Dead for cheap but I haven't watched it yet. It sounds fun and I'll be listening more intently to the score when I watch it.

I've seen the Fly but I haven't checked out Dead Ringers yet. That's the one with 2 Jeremy Irons right?

  • @theInnerdvdPattern - Yes, Jeremy Irons plays twin brothers who have their own medical practice. The opening theme to that film is one that I find myself humming frequently.

Another rousing Zimmer score is Crimson Tide, but I'd also recommend Rain Man and True Romance...very different in mood, but both good.

I've been thinking about your interest in the Dardan brothers lately. What film of theirs would you recommend I start with?

  • @CineRam I've been meaning to check that movie out. It sounds pretty interesting.

I haven't checked out those scores except for True Romance which I agree is different but good.

Hmm well the Dardenne brothers haven't made a ton of movies and unfortunately most of them are either hard to find or out of print. The easier ones to find are 'The Child' or 'Lorna's Silence'. I think I prefer 'Lorna's Silence' out of the two but both I think are good.

  • Really interested in checking out Clint Mansell. Of course I know him from the famous Requiem score. But would love to check out his other scores. Totally forgot about American Beauty Score, I loved that one. Goes through so many layers I felt. Again, need to see Lost lol. Been wanting to check that show out for awhile now.. plus with the score it's just another reason lol. Hans Zimmer is amazing.. love his work with Nolan of course. It's like the perfect recipe.

  • @TheBSKILL Moon is possibly my favorite score by him. I think I saw a trailer a few weeks back that used some of the score for Moon. His music is like tailer made for trailers I guess but in a good way!

The music for Lost is worth checking out on it's own! It's definitely jerked some tears out of me before and that's rare!

Agreed! Looking forward to his score for The Dark Knight Rises.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern In some ways, because the lack of characters in Moon, the score became a character I felt. It enhanced the atmosphere.

Oh really? I really want to watch the entire series. For both the show and score. Cannot wait.

Oh man me too. Every time I think of Nolan Batman that booming score is the backdrop of it haha.

  • @TheBSKILL Agreed. I love atmospheric and moody stuff like that!

Looking back at the whole series...it's not a perfect show or anything. Some seasons are better than others but the music is consistently great in my opinion.

It was epic seeing Inception in the IMAX with his score!

On a different note, I saw your twitter post about the Thursday album score. Classic stuff! I also love 'War All The Time'.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Same!

I have a feeling Id like it. I love the creators behind it, and love the settings and whatnot. I always stay with shows, I'm very loyal when I get into a series. I know it has like 8 seasons but It's on Netflix why not? Haha.

You saw it in IMAX!? Jealous.

Oh man yeah Thursday kicks ass.. I need to get that album! Heard great things on both actually. That genre was at it's best during that time period I felt.

  • @TheBSKILL I'm one of the people who liked the majority of the show. I even loved the Series Finale which pretty much divided people on their opinion's. One tip going into it...it's a show with a lot of mysteries and questions. If you go in expecting every single thing to be answered then you'll be let down. I know some friends that were pissed off that they didn't answer arbitrary questions they had. I think they missed the point of the show.

    Yeah it was epic.....

  • @TheBSKILL 'War All The Time' might be my favorite of theirs. My brother saw them a few months ago with Tacking Back Sunday I think. That must've been like Scene heaven haha.

  • @TheBSKILL Obviously I meant Taking Back Sunday!

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Yeah wouldn't the point in some instances to let some of the mystery live on after the series? I don't mind loose ends too much, just as long as the right notes are hitting me. Seems like a great show though. I hear great things.

Oh yeah? That'll be the next album I get then. Damn, a Thursday/Taking Back Sunday show would be such a throwback haha yeah scene heaven. Although those two bands when they started weren't apart of that "trend" I feel those bands outlived the cliche

  • @TheBSKILL That's what I think is best too. I've always liked the series more because I cared for most of the characters. Most of the episodes have flashbacks to their earlier life before the Island so you get some good backstory to make you care for the characters more.

I actually think the show my brother went to is where they played all of 'Full Collapse'!

Yeah they have. I think why I prefer 'War All The Time' is because I listened to it more when it first came out.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern See that's what I enjoy too. Cannot wait to start watching it. At it's sweet it's on Netflix!

Oh wow really? I love when bands do that. Play the entire Album. When I saw RUSH they played through the entire "Moving Pictures" album.

Yeah w/ Thrice too I'll always be connect to "The Artist..." because it's what got me into them. Even though it's not my favorite, it still holds a place because it was the first. Cannot wait to hear "War All The Time".

  • @TheBSKILL I love watching shows on netflix. Another reason to not watch on TV because you can just marathon it online!

Wow that sounds epic! The only show I've been to where a band did that was at that As Cities Burn 'Son I Loved You At Your Darkest' release show.

I have a connection that that Thrice album too. I'm also nostalgic for some Death Cab and The Postal Service. Yeah it's kind of the typical 'emo' thing to say but I dig some of their stuff.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Exactly! Knock out entire seasons! & no commercials!

Jealous of that! I would of loved to see ACB when they just we're about to gain a lot of attention.

Yeah both of those albums have a very nostalgic feeling to them for me too. Mainly the time they we're released and how they we're both different to what a lot was coming out.

  • @TheBSKILL That's what I've been doing with TPB. I'm almost in Season 5!

I was lucky I guess since I grew up in that area. That's the only band to speak from my area that got really known..probably. Oh I forgot to tell you but if you didn't know Twin Killers posted a new song on their facebook. It's pretty good.

Transatlanticism is still one of my favorites! I'm not big on their newer stuff though. OK Computer is another one even though I first heard it as a Senior.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Nice! That's the thing with TPB, seasons just fly by.

Yeah it's always cool seeing a local band actually gain attention like them. I remember when I was in TN "The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza" gained a known record label and I thought that was cool.

Oh yeah? I'll check out their FB page then :)

Great record.. I haven't heard too much new from them, just the old school albums. Yeah OK Computer is just a classic period. Same could be said about other Radiohead albums.

  • @TheBSKILL That happens to me mostly with comedies. I speed through them like crazy!

"The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza" is probably one of the more intense and crazy bands of that genre I've ever heard. That's awesome their from there!

Radiohead is classic in general except for maybe their latest album. Although I do like the song 'Lotus Flower' as well as the odd music video ha.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Oh yeah for sure!

It's hilarious on the actual Tony Danza show, a person asks him "have you heard of TTDTE? and they play a song and he's like "I've been humming that all morning" haha.

I'm a sucker for all Radiohead. Even the new stuff. But I agree it's not their best by any means.

  • @TheBSKILL I saw that clip. Haha class act right there.

I think if I give 'The King Of Limbs' another try I may love it. I like a few of the tracks but a lot of them are in the middle for me...don't hate it but don't love it.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Yeah Tony Danza is a funny dude.

Yeah it isn't great but I give it up for them trying a new vibe to their music. Gotta take chances I suppose.

  • @TheBSKILL I'm glad their experimenting even if I don't initially like it. It makes sure that they don't make the same album twice!

  • @theInnerdvdPattern Absolutely. Plus it's Radiohead, so it'll be pretty hard to make a flop.

  • great video you listed some great composers that i like to listen to myself.

  • @InsaneGamer66 Thanks!
