Before the viper...there was this charger....it did not finish the race back then because of lower grade gasoline in france...it burn its valves...still this just demonstrates that the old,true to its "stock car" roots racer could do le mans.... think if they had used the aero cars of ealier.....

This is great. I actually know one of the guys who drove this monster at LeMans that year. The French papers called it "Le Monstier". They snuck a bunch of Olympia beer through customs by listing it on the manifest as "Oly lubricant", haha. Apparently they had to race with a smaller engine as the octane level over there was too low, this one sounds pretty good so that's probably no longer an issue. What a great bit of history.

Only a freakin idiot would buy or drive a Charger after watching this vid. It looks to me (and anybody else with a single digit IQ) the Porsches clearly walk away from it. The only car the Charger passes is a 1970 240Z.

On the first section of the Mulsanne straight, the guy driving the Charger actually backs off the throttle after hammering up behind a Porsche, in the second Mulsanne section, he blows by the Porsche like it's goin backwards, THEN he goes by the Datsun.
